: TJ brakeline brackets and new extended brakelines... question!

The last 5.5" lift finally made it important to install longer brake lines on my TJ. Here's the problem I'm having... stock TJ brakelines have a steel mounting bracket crimped onto them that gets bolted to the chassis to hold the brake line in place. I have new extended brakelines designed for a TJ but they don't have those brackets.

I don't see how the brackets can be removed off the old brakelines and re-installed on the new extended braided brake lines. Has anyone swapped their TJ's brakelines and figured out how to secure the new brakelines to the hardlines and mount the joint to the chassis as it comes from the factory? TIA!

There should be a C-clip of sorts that holds the line to a new bracket. If not, call the place you got them from and get some.

Also - weld the brackets down lower and just bend the hard line to fit.

Jerry -- Rubicon Express sends brackets and c-clips with their extended brake lines. (in kit form anyway) You might give them a call and see if they will sell just the brackets or you could make your own. here is a pic of the driver side.

I have the longer brake lines and to get mine on I just took some stainless sheet and bent it at a 90 and then drilled a hole to put the big end of the line in and then another hole to use the stock bolt to hold it to the frame. Works out great.

Jerry,
Go to Escondido Metal Supply on Mission rd and buy some 1/8" steel plate and fab your own for under $5.
Made ours using simple tools
If I had a dig cam, I'd post a pic. If need be you can always drop by and take a look- I'm in Mira Mesa.
