First, yes I have searched this question, and no I haven't found exactly what I need to know.
I need to know what year front driveshaft from a toy PU fits the rear of my spring over'd Cruiser. Otherwise, is a custom shaft the only other option? Seeing how I'm spending canadian pesos I don't want to order something out of the US. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The bolt pattern on the CV end of a front driveshaft from a 1984 minitruck matches the e-brake pattern of a 4-speed cruiser transfer case. However, the pinion bolt pattern is NOT the same (each end of the minitruck shaft run different patterns, most likely to prevent idiots from installing them backwards). I redrilled an early coarse spline round flange for mine. Since your 78 should have a fine spline pinion, your only option will be to purchase a round undrilled fine spline pinion flange and drill it to match the driveshaft.
I know this, cause I have this....

What application is the course spline round flange from? I thought the round flanges were all from later model fine spline pinions. This is exactly what I need for my mini CV shaft in the rear.

I own a 1969 and a 1972 and a 1974 and a 1977...so one of those.
Honestly, it was in my parts pile...no clue if its a front output part from a t-case (my suspicion) or from what or if a previous owner happened to have it installed.

I think the round flanges are aftermarket. Got mine from TPI for around 60.00. Other option is to use a FJ60 front CV driveshaft.
This will match right up with a 4 speed flange.
