Ok I got a 89 S10 TBI 4.3 V6 thats goin in my CJ7 project. Im doing all the work on the block now so i gotta decide what to do, im doing a total rebuild. Im gonna bore it out but cant decide how much? anyone else got a bored out one? i searched for a stroker kit but only came up with a company selling short and long blocks for up to 5K:eek: I also need to decide on what cam to run, I want something with good low end but wont end up guzzling gas like a V8 driving on the street. Suggestions? BESIDES GO V8:flipoff2:
aslo I need to find the best price on a rebuild kit, Northern Auto seems to have OK prices but Im lookin for cheapest:D

I know someone in the aftermarket makes a stroker crank but dunno who.
I also heard that GM was supposed start selling a stroker version crate
engine and I would assume the crank would be available separately as well.

Bore it as little as possible. You're not going to pick up many cubes from boring, so keep it small. That way you'll have plenty of meat the next time you need to bore it.

Edelbrock has stuff for TBI 4.3 and it works, though I don't think it helps the bottom end.

Good low end cam should help gas mileage.

Don't try to stroke it, leave it how it is. If you need more cubes then you need a bigger engine. Period.

The 4.3 is a great little motor, mine is .030 over (cause I had to) I run the edelbrock TES header and y pipe system, I have a flex fan, accell 8mm wires and a open 10in edelbrock filter on it. Its in a 89 s blazer (which with the YJ axles and what not is way heavier than your cj will be) with 4.11s and I love it, its plenty grunty with the stock cam, and wil still pull the 33s down the highway at 90mph if I want it too, it also gets second gear scratch everytime I round the corner (locker in rear) I love that chirp!! good motor little weight, its a good compromise in my opinion. Edelbrock makes alot of parts for this engine, but they are serious flow, and you about have to anty up for all of it, the intake, headers, cam, and TB to get the results that it would be worth, all those parts are big money though!
