Hey I was just wondering, my 50 is making a funky noise. I dont think its unit bearings (100k), and the tires are fairly small 305 somethings. It sounds like a baby rattle kind of thing. Kind of like somethings loose and bouncing around, I have a feeling its those goofy ass lockouts, but I dont know. Anybody have this problem?

did you check the ball joints?

It is either the ball joints or hub bearings. I had to replace my driver's side hub bearing at 109K. When you go around a corner do you have brake squeal? You need to jack the side of the truck that is making the noise up and get someone to grab the tire at 12 and 6 o'clock. Then see if they can move the tire. If it moves see if the knuckle moves(balljoints) or the just the tire(hub bearing). If neither move look into the locking hub or spindle bearing. I hope this helps.

I recall checking the ball joints and bearings when I did the brakes but they do still sqeal. I was thinking it was something with those goofy lockouts. I guess I should get it up in the air and check again.

Sounds like the lockouts to me. I replace quite of few of these on oil field trucks for what sounds like the same noise. They are easy to pull, I'd just pull them and go for a ride and see is the noise goes away.
