Im helping a friend get a trailer roadworthy. Its a fairly heavy tandem mobile home axle setup that was built aprox 50 years ago, its just a work trailer so hes not looking to put to many pesos into it, but we want to get rid of the 14.5-8 wheels and tires, in favor of a 16 inch trailer tire that would match up to all his other trailers tires. Its got a 5x5.5 lug pattern with a 4" center. Do the older ford 4x4 truck lug pattern and hub match up with this? The only one i had close by to compare to was a early 70s e200 2wd van but it has a 3 inch center hole, are the 4x4s 5x5.5 as well? I was thinking maybe the hub hole would be bigger on those if they are the same lug pattern.
Is there a stocker 16x 6 or 7 ford 5x5.5 wheel that should be fairly prevelent in a junkyard? I was thinking possably 80s Bronco 4x4 but figured someone might be able to point me in the right direction.
Thanks

You won't find a 16" stock on a ford with that pattern(that I can think of), however, the pattern IS the same.
mine has the same hubs as you are talking about, and stock ford rims don't fit, the centers are too small. However, aftermarket wheel DO fit. I ended up getting 5 mathcing 15x8 chrome spokes for mine for a smoking deal, so thats what I run.
Dodges however, do have the 16" rims stock, with the proper pattern, but they are often somewhat deep offset. My housemate has a set of 16x7 5x5.5" whitespokes I've been trying to buy, for the same reason.

Dodge 1500s have a 16x7 5x5.5 rim that came on 1994-2001 trucks there are quite a few out their because people like to lift them and put different ones on.

ive never seen a mobile home axle with a 5 on 5.5 hub. how is it that these axles you have are running this, rather than the rims with the clamps?

alot of the older ones had 5x5.5 hubs, or 6x5.5 hubs.

Some of the older work style ford trucks in the 70's had 16 inch tires with 5 on 5 1/2 pattern. The one you need came on the 4x4 truck. They maybe hard to find now days. Old jeeps, Suzuki samurai and a few other have the 15 inch.
