I have a friend who purchased a 95 Full size Bronco with an ARB in the rear. He took it out for the first time today and broke something (which if you knew him is right on par, hucked himself off 50 ft cliff on skis the same day he found out he was having his first kid, but that's a different story). From what he discribed as he limped home it sounds like a broken locker (ratching etc.) Anyhow, I know dana's but have never touched an 8.8, is it a c-clip? Any old posts or tricks to tearing one down? Thanks in advance.

8.8 has c-clips, yes.

Pull the diff cover, remove the cross shaft for the spider gears (should be like a 5 or 6mm hex key bolt head on an ARB), push the axleshafts in slightly so the clips can fall out the 'window' on the side of the carrier, then remove the shafts & pull the carrier.

Any idea how old that locker might be? The first couple years production on those units were real weak.
