I found a full size 78 Ford Bronco for 800.00 or less. Decent shape
(un seen) and has a good running 351m/C6/205. This rig I want to build to run everything BUT mud. I will keep the stock axles for now and prolly run my 33s. I allready have a spool for the rear and a lincoln locker for the front. Could do a Hydro assist in the front and a 4" lift.
Any other ideas for this to make it a capible rock basher? I will more than likely do it my way anyways, but do like opinions. What can I do with the stock front suspension to make it FLEX besides buy bad ass coils? I have the radious armes and a track/pan hard bar to work with as well. The rear is easy... A shackle flip and relocation of the mounts will solve that problem.
Opinions.

Put a detroit in the frot, especially if your running hydro assist. Get some gears for it, wether it be a doubler or just the axles. Upgrade front shafts and joints and bash. Also twin stick the t-case for front wheel drive.

35's tsls would be a better choice to get you up some and don't worry about cuting since the fenders will fit like a 38. Extend your radius arms like white rhino did and use flex joints. Then thank god you ford not a chevy.

if you put a detroit in the front the first axle shaft you break will most likely take out the detroit.
keep it welded or put in a ARB.

I have recently found a 86 bronco with a fulie 302 and 4 speed. I like this better. However I still need to decide how to get the solid D44 to flex nicely using a mild set up.

I do not have any pics of the 78 no, and I know the 86 will have a ttb but thats not a big problem to fix. I would really like to do a D60/70 combo with 38s instead of the D44/9 combo.

Shockloading is a real bitch, ain't it?
I hate a welded front, makes turning a bitch unless you love jumping in and out and spinning a hub......if your even running hubs instead of flanges. I much prefer a selectable, keep that pig locked in then unlock it for a tight turn.
