The lower plates do not have cone washers on mine either.

The steering arms is really all that needs them. Don't think that is all that strange.

Ditto for Venezuelan-spec FJ62, no cone washers on the bottom plate.

By the way, Rick D. lent me his SST that spreads the bottom plate and knuckle arm, *very cool* little gadget, saved me a lot of banging on the arm to get it off.

Oh, and one more beneficial side effect to a spring-over Cruiser...MUCH easier to work underneath them, I actually filled up the rear diff while *sitting* under the truck! :)

Talked to woody an he never saw that, checked some pics on the net and all had cone washers, so i tought it was strange just like the fine spline/drum brake setup.

Got bored today and started stripping down the front axle, that's how i found out. Other things i found out back and forth movement in the pinion, up down movement in the spider gears :( :( , all the seals in the knuckle have to be replaced :( :(

I'll be a poor man before i finish this frame off :(

i din't have that sst, i just place a steel drift crosswise on top of the studs and used a two leg flywheel puller to pull the tie rod arm and bottom plat off. Worked fine.

Problem is that i don't have any money :D , I'm 23 yo still live at home and don't have a job (luckily i get a lot of welfare here in Belgium). Plus side is that i can work on my cruiser all day long every day :flipoff2:

Time, Money, Effort.

You can do anything with two of those things.

Lot to be said for that.

And from what I have seen your effort is very worth while.

Good job so far man.
