This is a chamber that is cast in the rear of the head.
It ports out to the exhaust manifold.
I discovered, when I removed the exhaust manifold, that it is caked and clogged with dry black powdery stuff.
It looks like it is a tunnel to the fuel pump to carry overflow out the exhaust?
The FSM doesn't list it specifically!!
Is it an emissions thing?

EGR port.
It directs exhaust from #4 to the intake manifold then to the EGR valve....

so...I should get in there with a stick an vacuum and clear it.
I guess I'll remove the valve so I have a straight shot through the head to clean it?
EGR valve, when warm, opens or closes what?

If your egr system is clogged, it will not open up when the engine is warm.....this causes the NOX to sky rocket! I dont think it is any performance decrease, but it will not pass smog like that.

Interesting.. I just did a smog check on my Tracker, and it passed everything great, except the NO, it was VERY bad. Guess I'll take a look at the EGR system. Damn.. pulling off the header tonight.
