: Keeping the exhaust out of the rocks?

Allright, I just swapped a 390FE into my 85 F-150 in place of a 300, so i guess this question goes out to people with single exhaust 302's and 351W's.

One thing i'm trying to figure out is on the exhast pipe that drops off of the drivers manifold and crosses under the oil pan to the Y pipe. How close are people getting this tube to the oil pan and the rear of the crossmember on this body style truck?

I want to tuck it up as high and as close to the crossmember as possible so as to keep it out of the rocks, but a brake line runs across the rear of the crossmember.

Relocating it wouldn't be that big of a deal but if people aren't having issues taking this pipe out on rocks in it's stock location then i'd rather not.

most 80's trucks Ive seen with decent exhuast usualy runs the crossover pipe further back from stock. I know on mine, it goes right infront of the tranny mount, under the Tranny. I've never had any issues with it hitting anything, being that its higher than the bottem of the frame..

Another option, I see you have a 205 in that truck, I'm pretty sure you could just run the dricers side pipe down the drivers side of the truck.
