I have a 1988 ford ranger stx model.i am having a few issues with it that i need answers for but i probably need to tell a little more about it first. This ranger of mine i installed a 4.0L out of a 1992 explorer and i am using a wiring harness from a 1990 aerostar van. Anyways i built this motor and it runs fine, but i am having issues with it starting. no matter if the engine is cold or warm you have to use a starting aid such as starting fluid to get it started. once it carnks of of that it runs fine. Here is what i have did. the fuel pump is straight wired so it runs once you turn the key on. I am getting fuel to the rail, i replaced fuel pressure regulator, i pulled the plenum and the rail and with injectors connected to the rail i turned key on and none of the injectors leak. Im lost! Does anybody have a clue?????

Well, if you have fuel and air going in, than that leaves spark. Make sure that your plugs are gapped correctly first off. Check your wires. Quick way to do this is pull the wires and get a new spark plug. Put said plug in the wires one by one. Crank the engine and the plug will spark. If all wires are sending a spark, and you are getting an injector pulse of fuel then your problem may reside with a sensor fitting somwhere..
