I'm trying to dismount some 38x14.5 Sx's off of some steal wheels. Anyways I searched around and got some good ideas for seperating the tire from the rim. Now I have one side of the tire off of the rim (trying to take it off from the backside of the rim) but the bead thats still "on" the rim I just can't get the bead to start coming over the backside of the rim. I have been using pry bars (no tire spoons :( ) and I put soap around the bead for some lube :flipoff2: but no go. Any other ideas? I would just take them somewhere but locally they can't do over a 35" tire  Is it just because the tire has so many plys or do I suck at life? Wait thats giving you people ammo :flipoff2: any help would be great. Josh

read that wrong, if the wheel isn't a reverse mount wheel it can;t come off the back side of the wheel, assuming you checked that just use a pry bar or some other long straight bar, slide it in on top of the bead so it will hook under it and use the wheel to pry it over. Sometimes it helps to push down a bit on the opposite side of the tire to get the bead to drop down into the center of the wheel. Also very helpful to have the wheel clamped down to something but that isn't something that has to be done. Some reason i can't seem to explain this well, odd considering i change a lot of tires every day

I know what you're saying, I used to unmount and mount quite alot of atv tires but they never have been this much of a pita not even the thickass sidewall ones. I guess I just have to keep messing with it. Thanks for the reply

What ive done with that situation is just lay the tire/rim on the ground, and drive another vehicle up on the tire your trying to dismount. Usually if you get the tire of driven vehicle on only the sidewall of the tire your trying to dismount, and turn the wheel a little it will dismount OK. To avoid damaging the rim, put some cardboard under it.

the drive up on it method useually works but the best way to do this is to use youre highlift jack.Use the heaviest rig you got ,put the base of the h.l. on the bead put jack under the bumper start jacking, bead will pop off.And yes apparantly you suck at life and dismounting tires. This method is how its done on the trail, and in the drivway, good luck and watch youre lips.
