Cliffy,
Who'd ya order your 15" 8 lugs through? And what's the back spacing? I'm going with a 14b rear end as well and want to met a wheel that fits my tires and fits over them bigassss drums!

Why not convert to to a disk setup, and get rid of those drums? :D

They are summit 70 series, they have 4" backspacing. They clear the rear drums by about 1/2" all the way around. And I have the big drums. Getting them on the front was harder, I didn't like all the grinding that was necessary. Good luck.

Tim,
Rubicrawler said it best... "Why waist your money? They are made to stop a rig much heavier than yours anyway."

Cliffhanger,
Thanks for the lead. Another question... You say you used a d-line out of a blazer? No mods necessary?

Bwahaha... Sounds like one of those bumper stickers... I may be fat, but your'e ugly and I can loose weight!

I know, I know. There are a number of reasons you would want to go to disks. I just won't have the money after getting the new axles, high steer, wheels, gears, etc.

Not to rain on your parade, but I've heard that some master cylinders do not have enough volume to work the large 14b drums, let another reason to convert to disks. Come awn Josh, we'll run down to the yard find some 8 stud rotors, and calipers. Order a bracket from AA-Mfg and call it good.

My rear disk set up with New rotors, New calipers, New caliper guide pins, New brake pads, used brake lines, used banjo bolts, and used 1/2ton caliper supprts cost me under $150. The brackets from AA-Mfg are only $7 each...

My blazer D-shaft fit the scout PERFECTLY, except that I pointed my pinion @ the X-Fer case and now need a C-V; Which I have, but just need have put on, which means my shaft now needs to be about 6-8 inches shorter. But yeah other than that if fit GREAT. Oh! I almost forgot, it's not a stock blazer shaft. I had it lengthed about 6 inches after I lifted my blazer, so NEVERMIND a blazer shaft won't work ;p :flipoff2:

Oh and now I'm gonna use my Old rear shaft for the front, since the stock front is kinda puny, but it does work.

Here are a few pics of the wheel to brakes clearance...front and rear.

Rear on the top and bottom of the drum you can see the clearance.

Cliffy [JD]

and if you question that much clearance for a 15" rim on a 14bolt, read the sidewall of the tire

The front worries me all together, but I wasn't about to try and make a last minute switch to 16" shiat on the front.

If I had to do it over again, I'd run the 37x12.5x16 SSR's. Just for the rim to caliper clearance, but now it's done and I can run 15 inch rims and tires so I'm fine.

Looks like 3" backspace would have helped you big time?

Yeah, I already have 38x12.5r15 swampers and don't want to deal with swapping them out!

Totally, but it was like $35 a wheel to get different backspacing, not worth it if you ask me.

Oh well too late now.

Did you use "half ton caliper brackets AND half ton calipers"? Keyword: HALFTON. And what years to choose them form. Same question if they are 3/4 ton backing plates.
I sure could save alot of $$$$ if they are.

I think Ive got this shit down now. Was gonna get 3/4ton brackets but am gonna do the cheapest methos avail for now. Ive got too much shit to still buy like driveshafts & bearings for my front D60, not to mention brake lines still & rims. Than Im done. Itll be about 3weeks max. $$$$ :flipoff2:

Cliff,
Could you do me a huge favor? I need the measurements from your front end from the outside TIRE to outside oth the other tire. I found some rims with a 2" bs  and am worried that I'll be too fawkin wide to run trails and tread lightly! I'd like to stay under 80"

Dude, with my 64.5" WMS to WMS axle, 15x8 4" BS wheels and 36x12.5" Swampers, I'm at 80" now.

You're going to pickup 3" with full width Chevy, plus another 2" if you run 3" BS Wheels. That's 80" plus 5" = 85"

If you run 15x10's you'll add another 4" you'll be at 89"

80" inches is the base line, based on the equipment listed above. When you add length to the axle, wheels, etc you add it to the basline.

64.5 axle, 4" per side for the wheel, 3.5" of tire stick out per side.
