OK so when is this event? Rockrover say it may be in moab or maybe somewhere in Colorado.
Whichever place

When?

And I assume that you are not refering to the OTR thing put on by BB4WA.

Rally: I dunno'....But I'll find out for sure and post soon..

BB4WA: Well, after the last time, with all the "he didn't pay, so he can't go to the "vendor" tent" crap I've decided to never attend one of those events again. I still love the Burks...But wheeling and hard-line buisiness don't mix with me....Esspecially with the Burks. I've known them for years, and was very put off by the whole experience...Hell, I just wanted to meet up with some good friends in Moab and kick some tires...Not to be shut out and put down because I didn't want to pay over $300 to learn how to change a CV in the field and run Poison Spider Messa. Never again.

I am one of the 2 events corrdinators for the Solihull Society and the National Rally in Moab this year. All the information we have up to now is on the website. This years rally will be like no other that we have put on in the past. We will have the staging area and vendors complex at the Old Spanish Trail.

ROCKROVER could you fill me in more about what happened between you and Bill and what event it was at. Bill will leading and demonstrating at this years ralley and I can assure you that you will have to pay extra to visit will the vendors and for demonstations.

Hope to see allot of you hard core Rover guys out there this year. BTW, I will be the one in the grey 01 NAS Defender 90 with Jeep emblems (at least thats what the rest of the members in the club call it)

Hi Mark.

I really don't want to hash out the past too much, but essentially there was a HUGE stink because some of us decided that we would go to Moab, NOT be part of the OTR, and run some trails...Maybe even hang with some of our Rover bud's inbetween the OTR events.... Well, many thought that we were potching the event, and should pay the $375 for the "right" to be in Moab with our Rovers (and our other NON-rover friends)....You know the BLM requires BIll to pay them for us to run the trails right? Wrong. Only if your part of the event, which we weren't. Lot's of mis-information and gossip really. You can really see who your real friends are during times like that.

And thanks for the assurance that I will have to pay extra to view items that your VENDORS are selling....Seems like the vendors should pay extra to YOU...Not the other way around.

Pay for demsonstrations? Sure, Bill needs to make a living.

Pay extra to *maybe* buy products from vendors? Come on...

The thing I like about Solihull rallys is that they don't cost an arm and a leg...You usually get a nicely done t-shirt, good event/run coordinators, a good dinner and good fun.
I know Ed Mag. is a leader for some of the more difficult runs. I'd be whilling to lead an "un-official" hard-core run like I did in 98' in Red River (a'la' Blanka). Let me know...I was thinking of a Lower into Upper Heldo...I'm sure it would be a HUGE crowd pleaser.

That is the worst business decision I have ever heard of. Sounds super :rainbow: !!!!!!! I think Doug sums it up nicely. Here pay an extra $20 so I can sell you some of my over priced stuff. Wait I got it! The extra $20 is for Shanes KY anal ease. It all makes sense now.

Rockrover, I understand were your coming from. Been there done that. On day one I am leading a run up Lower Hell and Strike Ravine. A couple of us have been tinkerin with the idea of doing a night run on one or both of the Helldorados, we will see. I'm pretty sure we have plenty of trail leaders but we could use a few good tail gunners, since we will be running around 15 different trails a day.

If I can get the 110 all together and trailworthy, I should be up for the Nat. Rally in Sept.

Looking forward to seeing the difference between El Cabro 2, Serious One, and Serious HiCap on the trail!!! Should be a blast. How about wheelin the whole week up there instead of just Thur.-Sat.?

I was told it was going to cost $500 to register as a vendor this year. I imagine this is to help offset the cost of renting out that horse shit arena. Why is an indoor vendor/staging area needed in Moab? It's not likely going to rain or anything. I was told in years past vendors were granted free registration. $500 only gets 2 people in the door as well.

Hmmmm.

Two things:

I am TOTALLY in for any trip up Upper Helldorado, night OR day (or both that is). I won't drive the 145 up it though! OUch!!!

Also, I was planning on attending the Solihull event and OTR as a vendor this fall. If the Solihull event is truly charging vendors 500 smacks then I'm out. I can park my 145 with the S1 in tow and get more exposure hanging out on Main St. than in the arena.

I'm gonna hold off on any more harshness until I check it out first.

Too bad there is no information for potential vendors on the ralley page of solihullsociety.org.

Doug, rock on with the 100 hrs. of fabbing! Sounds cool. We've been busy as bees up here now that we have found the 'on' switch for ye ol' Millermatic!

Later,

Michael

E-mail Pat Bickford (e-mail on the Solihull website) and he can fill you in on any thing you need to know. We charged the same amount for vendors last year and had zero complaints about the fee. Think about how much it will cost the Solihull Society to put on this rally in Moab this year, the money has to come from somewhere. We try to keep the fee's for perticipants as low as possible and the fee's for vendors about average compared to other rally's. When we were putting this together we were thinking this years rally's cost would be WELL over that of previous years and as a non profit organization we need to make sure we cover the cost. And know that we are making final arrangements it will be very expensive for us to put this rally on. It's not like you can just send a 100 LR on the trails in Moab. This year we are having to pay for permits, BLM fee's, insurance, we are having to pay for a bunch of extra fee's that we have not had to pay for before. Compared to other rally's and 4x4 events I think we are allot cheaper than most of them if not all of them.

I recently recieved an e-mail from Pat Donohue who is the secretary for the Solihull Society. He wrote:

"Our current vendor fee is the same as Rally registration, $100 for first person (and Land Rover) plus $75 for each additional person. This also entitles you to participate in all of the rally events and the awards dinner."

I plan to participate as a vendor now that I have some accurate information.

Hope to see all of you POR ass-kickin LR badboys there fer sure! RockRover you can come and play in my BLM managed sandbox anytiime!

onsafari: You might consider getting more accurate information before you disseminate it on a public board such as this. Additionally, it would be nice if in your profile you included your name so that we knew exactly who it was that we were getting this information from, and who we were responding to. Just a suggestion, take it for what it's worth.

Micheal,

I apologize for the confusion and wrong info, it was early this morning. I am also glad that Paul got the correct info to you and straightend my little ass out. When we were going thru all the particulars we were going back and forth on a bunch of things and hell maybe thats were I remember that from. Butt anyway the info that you now have is correct. Once again sorry for the confusion and we will see you in Moab. BTW I will be the one leading a bunch of Rovers with the Heep (it's a long story)

Heep? Heep?

Well, I personally won't hold it against you for driving a Jeep, I try to wheel with all types.

But, it is kind of funny that you're that involved with the ralley and driving a jeep. It's just a twisted kind of irony that I enjoy. Expect to get a little crap during the event (I'm sure you're well prepared...).

I have to apologize too. I didn't read your sig on previous messages stating your name at the end. Some do, some don't, and not everyone else chooses to use their real name. Most of the 'aliases' I recognize, but I don't think I've bumped into you before. Guaranteed I won't forget who you are now. ;)

Anyway, it's just one of those stupid things that I let get out of control. I'm in a battle with unwanted SPAM being sent by an attorney no less, I had to remind him that SPAM was illegal and I could get his ass in deep trouble for sending it, so I've been on edge for a while. Not an excuse, just some background.

Now, let's get back to roverin'!

Hey Michael, who's the shyster hassling you? Just curious - I might know him. Probably an ambulance chaser. Sounds like progress on the 145 - glad to hear it.
