ok ive found a runnin 1967 j-20

body is shit from what i understand.. never seen.. only talked to guy a few times

it has a 327 vigalantie sp motor..
3 on the tree..
no clue as of x case or axles..

i guess what im asking is

what are the possible rears under this .. he said sumthing about a dana 53. ..
im not sure never dealt with a j 20

and is the 327 a decent motor?
same as a 327 chevy? or what ..
he said its a big block.. but a chevy 327 is a small block.. ( short block i think )

well would this thing be worth pullin home for 750.. and it does run.. no brakes..

so whos the j master on this board?

not sure about one that early, but the later ones are 30 spline ff 60 rear, and a 44 front.

The 327 in there is NOT a chevy 327, unless it was swapped for one. Only similarity between the two is the fact that they both have 8 cylinders with common displacement. That's it.

just to let you know a short block is an engine with out a top side (no heads, intake, or push rods) Long Block is typically oil pan to intake.

well if its a '67.. it will have drums front and rear.. if it does have a d44 front.. it will be crap.. the closed knuckle ones have d30 size shafts.. with 10 spline hubs.. only the u-joint and r&p will be d44 size.. for the rear.. mmm.. not 100%.. but some did have d53's.. i would still pull the shafts.. usually something that old will have a low spline count.. and i think those 327's were buick's..

my 64 j200 gladiator came with the inline 6-230, t18 tranny i think, and the dana 20 t-case. not sure on axles if you check out specialty jeeps web site there is a vin code checker dealy on there. I've never heard of a jeep 327, is it possible its just a swapped in sbc??

AMC 327 Vigilante is most definately a possibility. Its not a build or any flavor of SBC engine.

leave this one alone, look for 74-79 J- anything. I got my 79 J-20 running with 360 T-18 44/60 for $1500. I thought I got a smokin deal sense it was in running shape still.
