I originally built this Jeep over 10 years ago. A piston decided to leave the block through the side and it has been sitting for almost 3 years. I finally decided to get off my ass and put it back together. I intend to make some changes/improvements at the same time. Then, I am going to sell it to fund my Jeepspeed project and pre-runner. I never documented the original build, so I figure this would be a good time to give some others ideas of how to do it.

I first cleaned the engine bay and gave the firewall, fenderwells, & the inside hood a shot of hammertone paint.

This Jeep used to have the Trans Dapt motor mounts, which I really did not like. I am also not a fan of the AA mounts, so I built my own. You can see them in the pic above, but here is a close-up of one.

The old bellhousing is an AA unit and the transmission was a GM NV4500. I am going to use this one on a flatfender build as it is 1" shorter than a Dodge NV4500 I picked up to be used w/ a stock GM bellhousing and AA's adapter plate. The trick is that the stock GM bellhousing does not have the mount for the hydraulic clutch slave- see pic of AA bellhousing. I would like to keep the hydraulic set up.

Here is a shot of the stock GM housing....with my initial paper template for the bracket I need to fabricate.

Here is what I eventually came up with...

I completely agree! This one should only take a month and will free up some cash for the others. Unfortunately, the flatty fell onto the back burner for the next several months.....again.

Are you going to be in Moab this year?
