Some beatch stole the some bitch right off his ride!!!!:mad3:
That is some desperate shit!!!:flipoff:

Wilson 05-22-2002, 11:22 PM Damn, I've thought about that with my truck, but feel somewhat comforted in the fact that both of my driveshafts are custom built for my rig and pretty much useless to a thief....as long as they knew that, I guess.
Lovely 05-22-2002, 11:27 PM Damn that is desperate but I felt a light go on in my head:)
bigdude 05-23-2002, 06:09 AM I'm guessing they stole it for the CV. Sorry to hear about that. Depending on his yoke and if moneys an issue he can get a cherokee front and cut it down for a replacement. Total cost would be like $50.
I'm getting more and more worried about my sh!t:mad: :mad3:
Eskimo 05-23-2002, 06:16 AM Let's hope the fawker tries that again on an automatic tranny one, and the Heep rolls back and pins him under it as soon as he disconnects one end.. :flipoff:
Lloyd 05-23-2002, 06:45 AM Exact same thing happened to a friend - while he was parked in front of a restaurant. They took the damn thing while he was eating! He just engaged the tcase and went home fwd. It was a mostly-stock K1500, stock rear driveshaft, automatic.
Gad damn, is it getting to where we have to put a tack weld on one of every bolt that we connect to something, sheesh...I'd like to find some of these fawkers and...........:nuke:
bigdude 05-23-2002, 08:34 AM tack weld on one of every bolt that we connect to something
I'll be doing that to my winch tonight. I hate that we have to be paranoid. Just last night my dog started barking and what was the first thig I thought- "Somebody's stealing my Jeep or something off it"
A side note- My co-worker recently got her 1200cc '01 crotch rocket stolen, no insurance. It was a $10,000 bike, I feel really bad for her also

NO INSURANCE on a bike like that!!!! That is INSANE!!!!

bigdude 05-23-2002, 08:55 AM NO INSURANCE on a bike like that!!!! That is INSANE!!!!
Believe me we told her that over and over. But here was her response-
"When you buy a bike outright you don't need insurance to ride it. I checked on insurance for this bike, just basic coverage was $500/month "
I almost shit myself when she said that.... I wouldn't have it in the first place if I couldn't afford to insure it.
John Deere Ranger 05-23-2002, 09:02 AM that blows
just last week at a bone yard in Dallas my bro was in the yard for about 20 minutes gettin a driveshaft for his jeep and comes out and someone opened up his truck and got the tools out of the back about $500 worth....... so he goes back the next week and sits away in an inconspicuous place and waits not 1 hour after he was their these Mexicans roll up jimmy open a door and get the tools .... my bro is on his cell with the police the second it starts and he stays on the phone and follows them for about a mile and then they start runnin redlights runnin bout 100mph down through Dallas........
The police FINALLY showed up 15 minutes later to take his report..... we think the owners had some connection with the crooks...... that's our belief....
John Deere Ranger 05-23-2002, 09:06 AM ohh I forgot to mention this... then my bro goes to the flea markets to look for his tools and he walks out to his truck to make sure everything is there.... on his like 4 trip out 4 cars over 2 guys break open a neon steal the radio and some other sh!t jump in a car an take off..... so if you are EVERY in Dallas Area LOCK your Sh!t up GOOD and hide everything so people dont' know what ya got

A bike like that is more of an investment, at that cost, and she paid cash?? $500 a month is steep for Bike insurance, but maybe that is why the rates are so high,,,,,High Theft Risk!!!
I guess you won't be telling her "I TOLD YOU SO" But I know you want to!!! She'll be kicking herself in the seat for a good long time I'm sure of it!!

That's $6,000 a year, come on. Did she have multiple DUI's and a hit and run? Bikes are way cheaper to insure than cars. I've had 3.

Tell her to look into homeowers insurance or renters insurance. I know that all my junk that sets around (project trucks) are covered under it, even though there is no coverage on them to be driven.

Well, it was a 1200cc crotch rocket...When I was riding, anything over 600cc's and insurance went through the roof...That's one of the reasons I got one of the first Interceptor 500's...Man I'm old...Sweet little ride though....Insurance then (84') was about $75/month...And that was a bitch then...Chico and money usually don't go together!

can someone tell me what a GARAGE is?
Heh. I had to drive my crawler to work one week. And on friday, about two weeks ago, i came out to discover my FF axle shafts gone, along with my new hubs. I dont know WTF it is about these people. Every time i hear that somone somwhere has had thier tools/truck stuff stolen, i start shaking in rage. I oh so wih to rip these thiefs apart. Slowly... Make them feel the pain that they have caused all of us.
bigdude 05-24-2002, 05:35 AM Hey I'm just relaying what she told me. $500/month.
They told her it was due to the size- 1200cc, year- '01, and bike type -crotch rocket. I'm guessing it was probably a little steep but insurance companies aren't stupid, a 1200cc crotch rocket with a top speed probably somewhere around 160 or higher(guessing). I doubt they'd believe you bought the big one just to ride slow:D

Buddie gets up for work, starts his car and hears water pourin out from under the hood. Sum fawker stole his upper rad hose.
"Umm boss.....I'm gunna be late because..................."
Josh 89XJ 05-24-2002, 06:00 PM I believe it! I live in a nice neighborhood and fawkers are always coming up from the low rent apartments down the road in order to steal from us. Drives everyone nuts. Luckily, my dog wakes me up in the middle of the night when they cross into my driveway. The last time I cought some fawkers, they were trying to steel my Jeep, then my neighbors car. I grabbed my gun, video camera, and phone. Filmed the little SOBs trying to open up the neighbor's car and the cops showed up not 2 minutes later :D
I've got this daily driver Toyota econobox and for some reason, they always try to steal this car or stuff out of it. I think it has been broken into about 4 times in the past year or so. Each time, I didn't have anything worth stealing in it (best defense) so they stole the dumbest stuff. Pennies from the ash tray one time, and then the whole ask tray another time. Then there was the time someone stole my insurence info and a pack of M&M's out of the glovebox. Sheesh...
coiledbj42 05-24-2002, 06:16 PM bike insurance is a killer!
I had a cbr900 fireblade, to insure it for one year for $10 000AUS it was $9900 a year!!!!!!!!!!!
No joke!
Victor 05-24-2002, 06:35 PM Well, since everyone is chiming in about their srories, I'll add my most recent. I thought I lived in a safe neighborhood. Never lock your doors etc, but I guess my open Jeep was too much of a temptation. Some dipshit stole my stereo the other night while it was parked on the street near my house! At least they knew what they were doing and didn't trash the dashboard. Funny how you apreciate the little things...
seRob 05-24-2002, 10:00 PM shit like this just pisses me off. Luckily I haven't had any problems where I live, except the bastards that used to always fawk with my Christmas lights. One night they decided they were gonna rip them up, but I was still awake. After throwing open that front door with my peice in hand... never had any problems since. Anyways, I have a house where the garage is in the back with the long driveway, and one of my projects for this weekend is building a gate towards the front of the house so the vehicles can be parked on a part of the driveway that will now be the back yard & guarded by my 3 boxers  Maybe I will sleep better & not jump up everytime the motion lights are triggered... : paranoid :
At work I'm pretty cool with the sec guard and park where he can keep a good eye on it. I did hear about someone having their battery stolen out of their van at work last week tho... right in the middle of the day!

1200cc will definitely do that to ya! The age and years of experience also lend to the premium. Safety courses and programs sometimes bring them down.
What kinda rocket?!? Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Kawasaki?!?
Hiyabusa is gonna be spendy no matter what!!!
I have had an '85 Yamaha FJ1100(at least thats how its reg'd anywho;)) and its just as much to insure as the 600 & 750 bikes. The saving grace is that "they" consider it to be a Sport/Touring bike.:laughing: IF only they knew!! The FJ was the fastest :nuke: on the planet in its day. doctor_G 05-27-2002, 12:30 PM All the civil rights freaks have sure made it nice for criminals.
Most scumbags know that "if" they are caught, they won't get much more than a warm bed, hot meal and a slap on the wrist.
Some other countries remove a thief's hands at the wrist. In my oppinion, a much better approach.
I have no tolerance for thiefs. The fawks feel "entitled" to simply take what other people work hard and save for. :mad3:
Rogue Bronco 05-27-2002, 12:54 PM When they catch these fawkers, they should let the owner/vicims "Talk it over with them" in a private room. Lil shits would think twice after their buddies leave the cop shop all fucked up :D :D
Save money on usless court shit they get outa anyways, don't gotta feed them, and the victims would prob. feel better too.
Rogue Bronco, i think your on to somthing here :D They finds the thiefs so you can decreetly kick thier cowardly asses. Less they allow you to bring a bat or somthing. Even funner! Muhahahaha!
ashmanjeepXJ 07-09-2002, 10:37 AM Hay guys we should have a TOTW on theft prevention. Dont reveal the hole trick or it may help these theves but you know stuff like welding your bolts...
I still cherp my car alarm if its in the garage.....
Ignition kills are almost useless, kill switches are almost useless, Car alarms even get stolen, Ive had good luck with that auto lock on the clutch and with the bright yellow wheel cover.
Here was a cool Idea I came, if you have a car alarm the kids will see the red flashing light, so will break in, pop the hood, and disable the car alarms so they can freely steel or what ever.
So heres the idea, mount a whole bunch of FLASHING strobe lights under the dash and in hidden dark areas, when they open the doors these brigth lights will dis able them from seeing. Tey will not find your wireing to steel your Jeep, and make your hood release a dummie and add a real one hidden some where they will never find it, then they can not disable the alarm!! At night a slow really bright flashing light is the most Anoying, attention getter that will not hurt anyone. any better ideas?
So I say do:
Auto lock
Car alarm
Relocate the hood cable
Attach some strobes inside, to your car alarm using some relays.
Im gonna weld in a plate around my stereo and have a pad lock on the unit so it wont get stolen, and have all the tools locked in the back hidden.
The lo-jacks system is also a good solution to Jeep theft, a certified lo-jacks installer hides the unit, no local install kid can touch it, you pay a monthly fee and it will broad cast a signal that can be traced by all cop cars in the US. Its pricy but if you have a $30k beast the could get to MEXICO in 3hrs with the use of no roads, no added gass stops, no needed tools if they brake any parts, spares for almost everything, its bound to happen!!
What works for you guys!? PREVENTION:D

BIkes are this expensive to insure. A 35 year old friend of mine tried to buy one last year in Fla. ZX12R. No tickets, no accidents, no claims, been driving for 20 years, married, and the insurance co's wanted over $400 a month for him. The plastic on them is expensive to replace, but that does not begin to explain why they are so expensive to insure. A top speed of around 190mph might explain a little of it though. In 1987 when I first bought my GSXR1100, they wanted over $3500 a year for a bike that only cost $6000 or so...
4Bangler 07-09-2002, 03:48 PM Ha, missing driveshaft, had that happen a couple of weeks ago, I work 250 miles away during the week, when I got home to my little podunck town, jumped in the heap, and fired it up, it wouldn't go, missing rear shaft. Luckily I checked my messages as I was dialing the police, one of my buddies borrowed it to get him home.
I hot glued razor blades to the back of my last stereo, but it didn't stop the bastids, just got my carpet and seats all bloody, and of course the cops aren't going to run DNA tests for a friggin car stereo.

I parked my truck in the driveway , 25/30 feet from bedroom window, alarm on. Left drivers window down cause its so hot/muggy when I leave. Figured if someone reaches in an steals small stuff, Oh well.
Some lil fucker jumped in the window, stole 2 12" speakers & boxes (1 box per speaker), nabbed the amp under the seat, and passed it all out the window and took off without opening the doors. I didn't think the boxes would fit through the windows, never thought anyone would try either tho.
In a way I'm kinda glad the window was open cause the door wasn't fucked, and the window wasn't busted. They didn't disturb anything but what they were after. They didn't even grab the deck:confused: or radar detector:confused:

The only suggestions I have to improve your strobe light idea is to add some thick ass plexiglass over the lense to make the light impact resistant. A persisitant thieve will beat the snot of, and break those lights so they can see what they are doing. Of course it wont do much good when they bring a can of flat black spray paint to the party.... Annoying ass sirens that make you want to throw up are an added bonus as well. Not your typical radio shack sirens, not the ones you find at pick-and-pull, you need the good ones. Ya know, the ones that make you feel like you did last saturday when you were drunk as hell and ready to puke. If the siern makes you want to puke and make your ears bleed, then you know you have found the right ones.
Build a steel box for your stereo? They will seriously fuck up the rest of your dash to get to your stereo. My rule of thumb here is that the more effort you put into making your stereo theft proof, they will destroy 4 times the amount of shit trying to get to it,(multiply stereo price * 4) AND fuck up your stereo too. So, if you had to make a choice, would you rather them steal your stereo, or fuck it up, and destroy your dash as well? (shooting the bastard as they are stealing it doesn't count either DAMMIT!)
A bad thing about low-jack is that a good thief knows that they have anywhere from 1-4 hours for you to notice that your rig is missing, by then they could have it parked someplace where no signal can get out, strip what they want, and burn it to the ground. NO way in hell Low-jack will work then. Of course this sytem wont stop your stereo from being stolen either
Of course the best alarm of all is a 200# pitt bull who is very unfreindly! Just remember... If you make something theif proof, they build a better thief

I was waiting for this one to come up....A friend had saved for 2 years to buy a new Harley..all cash up front... at home he set a large ring into the floor and ran a cold hardened chain through it. He locked it with a harden padlock. Still he wasn't happy so he goes to the pound and picks up a nice 160# pitbull and ties him to the bike.
He comes home from work and finds the bike still there except the dog pulled the harley over and ate the cables, tires and fancy seat. My buddy staggers about 3 steps back holding onto the wall for support. He goes inside gets his gun and shoots the dog which of course goes completely through him and hits the bike.

Robert 07-10-2002, 11:28 AM The truly pro motorcycle theives have started removing garage doors in the middle of the night, using a P/U and some chain.
The fix for this is to park a vehicle right in front of the garage door.
A lady in Davis found her Cherokee sitting in the middle of the street one morning. It had apparently rolled out from the driveway. When she got in it, the tranny was in Park, and it would not move in any other gear.
She had it towed over to the local 76 service station, where the techs put it on the lift and inspected the transmission, and shift linkage. They could not find anything wrong with it, so they had it towed to another shop, where the same procedure was repeated. Again, the other shop could not figure out what went wrong. Finally. that shop had the Cherokee towed over to the Jeep dealership. After five hours of diagnostic time, it was dicsovered that the driveshaft was missing, stolen.
As an additional stupid to this story, the dealership ordered the d-line from Jeep. It took a month to recieve it, and cost was somewhere around $700 fro the d-shaft alone.
