hey guys i went to do the brakes on my dads 02 2500HD, and when i started checkin it out, the rotors were real F ed up. on both fronts and one rear rotor, the inner side was like half rotted away on the outside and inside edge. WTF? i've nevr seen something like this. ever happen to any of you guys? what mite of caused this?

Yes I have seen this usally on snow area vehicles and those that launch boats as the rotors get wet but dont dry off start rusting and build from there
did this sit parked for awhile?

ya i live in northern jersey, and they like there salt up here. ya its sits abit, only really getts used when towin the trailer or the weathers shity. thanks man, glad i wasn't the only one. hey nice truck by the way

Mine are bad too, but not that bad. Pretty much everyone with HD's say that the factory rotors warp really bad, so they almost always need to be replaced. I've only done my back brakes so far. My fronts are still factory at 117k!! Can't beat that. They pulse a bit, but I am going for a new record without touching anything up there. :D I did replace a caliper when I put on my lift. Dang bleeder was stuck and I broke it off.

holy cow those rotors are rusty for a 2002!
After seeing that I'd strongly suggest rebuilding the caliper slides or possibly replacing the calipers while you're at it.

This is a common problem I see, I being a GM tech can tell you just throw them away buy new rotors and good pads make sure the piston goes back into the caliper alright and lube the slides this problem is caused by the quality or lack quality of material the rotors are made of
