Hi, I just bought a CJ5 rear dana 44 with a full float kit, disc brakes, locked, w/ 538's. I have a 289 V8 in my jeep and need a strong front axle. What would you guys recommend for the front? Dana 30? Thanks for your help.

What is the D44 from? Is it narrowtrack? How wide??

its the stock axle from a 68 CJ5

I run a D30 from a 70's CJ5 in the front of my 3A. works for me..

but... I added cro mo axles and wheel spacers... I break the stock axles with an F134 and T-90. and the narrow trac is lacking in width for tire clearance.

IMHO, a 30 is good cause it fits, and is not that much weeker than a 44, so if ya pop a 30, look for a 60, cause a 44 isn't gonna last much longer.
