: Mo' Power for my PS...drill out pressure outlet on PS pump?

I'd heard that some people were enlarging the hole on their toyota PS pump to get more power out of it. Can this be done on a saginaw pump?

To clarify for those who don't quite know what I'm babbling about; some people are removing the pressure hose on the back of the pump and drilling out the hole inside the fitting in the back of the pump. This allows fluid to pass from the pump into the lines and into the box with less resistance (=more power).

I ahven't heard of people doing it to Toy pumps but try this link, he explains it pretty good. There's also more similar stuff on the second one.

Drilling out the fitting will not increase the pressure. On a Saginaw you need to pull the piston out and make sure the small nut in the end with the screen in ithas no shims under it and is tightned down all the way. If that is still not enough power then you can add shims under the spring inside the piston which will also increase the pressure. You need to make sure that if you do add those shims that you take about the same amount off of the limiting stud that slide inside that spring.
On a Toy pump there is not a way that i have found to increase the overall pressure safely. When i do i'll be sure to post it.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll probably give the mods a try soon then if that is not enough I'll probably try the ram assist like the scout guy did.
