: My D44 is on its way out
H8monday 05-23-2002, 10:51 PM I just finished a cross country handshake with Badassjeepguy, that will have my new D60 project traveling towards Cali, next week. :bounce:
The axle is an HP, kingpin version.
I have already talked with Jack at CTM, about fabbing new 300m axle shafts splined at both ends to accept custom 300M yokes. Of course it will also have CTM joints. I will either use an ARB, or an Eaton E locker. Probably go to full hydraulic double ended ram steering.
It wont be a rushed project since the D44 is doing just fine, but I will get started on it right away.
Ill probably complete the axle over the next couple of months, but wont swap till the end of Summer when I hand the Jeep over to Mike Shaffer and Bob Roggy for some modifications.
I cant believe how cheap Forward air is right now. $33 per 100 lbs from Chicago to Sacramento(less than $140 for shipping a D60 across the country).
I gotta thank BAJG for the fair deal, and the extra effort to crate it up and send it on its way.
Wilson 05-24-2002, 01:46 AM So was this jsut as insurance? Or are you getting worried about the D44? After watching the way you abuse yours, I was assured that I made the right decision by going with clearance and weight vs. stock strength.

I know! I had F/R Yota axles shipped from TN to MO last fall and it was only $150 or $170 and I think the weight w/ the crate was 750-800 pounds!
Good luck on the new "project 60"

The thing that I'm confused about is why the axle is shipping from Chicago to CA?

Their terminal is out by the old airport, me and CJ drove around for like a hour trying to find it. Luckily, we eventually found it, but i have no idea where it is.

I'm curious about this too, since you've been one of the largest CTM/44 proponents...
Is this a keeping up with the Jones', or just insurance to not break in the comps?
