We'll see how many guys it takes to put a new body one.
Pics tonight or tomorrow.

ol John Henry 05-24-2002, 07:04 AM 3 if one is as strong as a gorilla or 4 normal people. And make sure you got plenty of 4x4 wood blocks etc. handy:cool2:

That's what I was thinking!
I had two people, but one was about useless.. I guess mostly he was there to call 911 if it fell on me.. (and it was his Scout).
Floor jack, engine hoist, sawhorses, and some 4x4s.. and a bunch of logs from the firewood pile.

at the time I didn't have the engine hoist :D
just using the floor jack on those cinder blocks made for some interesting moments :shaking:
but now that I have my hoist.....and when I get to putting the body back (I hope within the next 6 months  ) it should be smoother :flipoff2:
TERRA-IZER 05-24-2002, 11:15 AM Took 3 to put the tub back on my Terra, my dad, my little brother and me. I had the doors, top, tailgate, seat, windsheld frame and front clip off when we did it, fromt the ground to the lifted frame took about 10 mins.
TxScout 05-24-2002, 08:40 PM 1, 2, 3, or 4 people if they're not all drunk. Hey, I had to bribe them somehow, besides, took just a couple of seconds to pick the body over the engine and onto a spare rolling chassis. Pictures in a bit, after resizing.
TxScout 05-24-2002, 09:58 PM Here's the pics
Here's what I started with, a crappy body that has holes in the floor big enough for my dog to fall through.

Man, I'm really excited about this body swap. Wiring is gonna be a pain in the as but holy shit this is cool. I'm gettin' a rust free body!!!!:bounce: :bounce2: :bounce: :bounce2:
TxScout 05-24-2002, 10:03 PM Ohh..yea, forgot to add that I'm painting the frame tomorrow moring, with Zero Rust (same thing as POR, phosphic paint), adding a steering stiffner plate, and re-inforcing the rear hangers on the front springs. Plus I might get some plastic tubing for the breathers and run it up to the fire wall. It's hard not to let is snowball right now, there are SO MANY things I can do with it now that the body is off....
RustoleumWhite 05-24-2002, 10:46 PM Reinforce and re-weld every spring and body mount...
Do it now (while its easy) and you will be much happer than haveing to do it later when they do (and they will) start to crack.
Also might be a good time to weld on a steering box reinforcment plate as well.
If you going to run a body lift, modify the rear shock mounts on the frame. Cut it out so you get get a strait plate bolted between the stock mounting holes. Now you can extend and tilt them in when ever you need to, just remove the bolted on plate and re-work it as nessisary.
nice to start with a bare frame.....
TxScout 05-26-2002, 08:23 PM ran new gas lines, put in a steering box brace, replaced the steering pump, painted the frame in a POR like paint, replaced the body bushings, and today,we finally got the new body on. We used an engine hoist on the front to lift it over the engine and rolled the frame under while 10 guys held the back end under. Man, what a pain. But now, I'm pretty damn extatic. Too bad I still have a shit load of work to do. Wiring is gonna be the big PITA.
