yeah its the more desirable tcase what are you running now? if you have a 203 laying around it would be perfect for a doubler

$100-$600 depends on condition. Most shops sell rebuilt units for about 5-700

i have a part time converted 203 in my truck now. but im taking it out soon, cause its on its last leg. it keeps popping out of 4high and 4low. took it to a offroad park a few weeks ago and dang near almost slid off a hill cause of it poping out.

so im either gonna run a 208 which i have 5 of them laying around and have had good luck with them or ill use this 205. i just hate installing them cast iron suckers.

Run the 205! It's bulletproof it will go well with your new D60 and 14 bolt! :D Swap in that TH400 as well!

Can't wait to see the revamped Beast!

If its a 10 spline SM465 version of the 205, complete with unbroken adapter and un-stripped sleeve, you can get some decent cash out of it...but if its just the 10 spline 205 by itself (and this is just a guess since you didnt say, but its the most common by far), maybe $50. This is pretty much the bottom of the bucket as far as 205's go, with the weenie front output and small input bearing. Even less if it has a slip yoke!

i drove the truck around today. and the dang lever for the transfercase wont move i really had to force it to move from 4high to 2high then it wouldnt move in 2high and took 2 minutes to get it back. so either that case is trashed or stuff is really rusted under there

and i really dont know anything about the case other then its a 205. and the 400 in this truck the reverse is out too

Th400 to NP250 SWEET:grinpimp: If I was closer I would tell you it's junk and take it off your hands:D Is it 85 or newer? if so that's the round bolt pattern and they fetch a good price. Since you have the tranny the adapter and the 205 it's worth 4-800 depending on condition. If your going to sell it, sell it as a package deal with the adapter and trannny. Better yet use it :cool2:

alright thanks for the advice. im thinking i might run it if i can get the shifter to move. i think this truck has been sitting way longer then a year like the lady said when i bought it everything that shouldnt be rusty is rusty. but im getting another 400 i have rebuilt and thats going in the truck anyways if this 205 is junk ill throw in the 208 i got

either the transfercase or trans is junk, something isnt allowing to let the truck roll backwards

whats up john-e didnt see your post. one day my truck will be as worthy as yours

edit -- the truck is a 82 k30

the rolling backwards thing is prolly the rear brakes

Since the shifter only barely works, if you tie a rope to the output yolk and throw it overboard it does a great job at keeping your boat from drifting...

Seriously though, that case isn't going to make you rich. Since you have 208s laying around you'd be better off using one of them so you don't have to mess with a messed up 205.

i thought it was the rear brakes at first cause the tow truck driver had to shake it off the flat bed. but i disconnected the rear driveshaft and it rolled easy in reverse. also i was able to grab the driveshaft and spin it one way no problem but it wont go the other way. i never seen anything like it

do t400's have a overrun clutch like the 700r4's? seems like either a bearing is out or something is siezed together inside. did you try this with the TC in neutral? what about the tranny? just kinda thinking out loud....

Bad idea. 208 no good.

not yet snoops but i was thinking the same thing. i just got the shifter lever moving around today, sprayed pb blaster on it the past few days and got in the truck and slamed the shifter back and forth and it works like new now. it was a plow truck so it probably never left 4high.

yeah if this thing works i think ill run the 205. only reason i was thinking of running the 208 is cause i have a bunch of them and ran one under a suburban with 38s with no problmes

The linkage sucks on these things Did you check and see if was just loose?

i got it to move. just had to spray the heck out of it. and when i put the transfercase in neutral it rolled too. so it probably is the trans. which is fine with me. ill use this case. in the next few days when i get time to mess with it, im gonna shift it in all the settings to make sure everything works
