Check into the ZF 6 speeds chevy started using in their HD trucks...they dont cost quite as much as the NV.

why not get a chevy nv4500? the only thing you get with the 5600 is another overdrive gear.

There's no extra OD gear on a ZF 6spd or a NV5600.

Here's a pic of the 5600:

on a nv5600 4th gear is 1:1 and 5th and 6th are both overdrives. on the 4500 4th is still 1:1 and 5th is the overdrive so you get another overdrive on a 5600. I have no clue about the zf trans but I am positive about the new venture transmissions.

well fuck me running. I was wrong. I was sure that 5th and 6th were both overdrives, but i was wrong. I don't have any idea what trans I am thinking about.

edit - does the allison 6spd have dual overdrives?

Maybe you are thinking of the Camaro/Firebird T56 trans. That has dual OD. 0.5:1 top gear.

As for the Allison....
