Michelin is releasing 9.00R16 and 11.00R16 XLs, 325/85R16 XMLs, 395/80R20 XMLs, 335/80R20 XZLs, and 14.00 and 16.00R20 XLs at any Michelin dealer. Prices are reasonable but not cut rate; $257 for the 9.00s, $300 for the 11.00s, $387 for the 325/85R16 XMLs (what I run on my F350), $300 for the 335/80R20s (good for F450 and 550 SuperDuties) and so on.
You must say you are "associated with MVPA" (MVPA = Military Vehicle Preservation Association). I guess not necessarily an actual member.
The 11.00s and 325s aren't so expensive when you compare them with 38X15.5R15 and 16.5 radial Swampers, the tire they are the most similar to that is "widely available". The Swampers run ~$300 each. The Michelins are built much stronger, with one steel sidewall ply and 4 tread steel plys. Both 11.00R16 and 325/85R16 are 38.7" tall, the 11.00 is 11" wide and the 325 is 13" wide. The largest radial Swampers are 37.1" in 15" and 37.6" in 16.5" and about 14.5" wide on 9.75X16.5 rims or 10X15s.

I really hope this is true

It is, it's been pretty widely publicized in the MV world. The reason it's not "too good to be true" is that they aren't selling them dirt cheap. I got a set of used (75-90% tread) 325/85R16 XMLs out of Edmonton for US$120 each, and there's a dealer (Bill's Tire) in Pacheco, Calif that has 9.00R16 XLs new for $190 and 11.00R16 XLs for about $250. But I'd like a spare pair of 325s, for example, and $300.25 fob the local dealer beats shipping them from almost anywhere.

They're about 50% the price Daniel quoted under the MVPA deal.

Definitely in the lower 48. Haven't checked it out up here, though.

I saw a Michelin billboard yesterday that had three tires showing. Two were passenger tires and one of them was the XL. If they are advertising them through regular channels that means they should be readily available.
