I'm going to put dana 60 under my truck and i already have tires that have a 15in rim. I heard that you couldn't run a 15in aluminum wheel but if I get the 15in wheel brake bracket could I run a 15in steel wheel with about 4 or 4 and a half inches of backspacing without grinding or would I still need to grind?
Thanks

You can run a 15" steel wheel on a d60...just have to grind. Its not to hard.

2.5 backspacing should fit with no grinding, or maybee a nick of the grinder on the caliper, thats it. 4.25 bs is what i have, and it took 1 hour of grinding each side, not fun.

I had to grind for 3.5" bs - I followed the guide here on Pirate plus some other web instructions. Go slow on the first caliper, the second will go much quicker.
Make sure you start with good calipers with new pads.

X2 on that.......... I did not think about the pad thickness and ground for an hour per side then later after a break job discovered that I did not grind enough and had to do it again, just a little at least the second time...
If you do it before you put the axle in the truck it will go alot faster. You won't have to duck under the fender to see what's going on, and you can tilt the axle so the calipers are at the top while you are working on it.

I have some pics of how I did my grind towards the bottom of the first page of my build thread. Making a cross hatch pattern when you grind really seemed to save time. Good luck.

When you get ready for this do NOT forget a mask/filter and eye protection. A large fan blowing at the caliper helps keep the dust down.
LOL'ing because at the moment I am wearing the rust stained t-shirt I wore when I ground mine down. The dust gets everywhere, rust stains will happen wherever there is moisture, including your driveway :D
