lol...never pulled a motor be4. so when i do it, should i try and yank it all out as one unit? its gonna be a bitch with my limited d-way space and all.
or so i leave the tranny and case in.(wich i cant really do - i have no crossmember holding them in, their hangin off the 2f) i was thinking of doing this to try and keep my d-lines in the same "area" and to keep my tranny in the same place in the floor. true it doesnt really matter, im expecting to have to redo dlines.
or, drop the tranny and case first be4 the motor but measure where it was at in the frame so i dont sit the motor back farther where it will make the t-case hit my body rails. its allready close. i dunno...does this make sense.
---in general, whats the procedure to yank my motor?!:rasta:

i pulled off the tranny and tcase before i took the motor out, but then again i swapped trannies too...but i just unbolted everything going to the engine and lifted it out...yank it out as one unit then bolt it to your new engine and lower it back in...measure everythign w/ the engine suported by a hoist but inside the engine area so you can put everything where you want it and maybe you wont hvae to redo drivelines..that's how id do it anywyas:cool:

Take off your front clip and yank it out as a unit. Stick it all back together and put it back in and adjust for direlines and firewall clearance.

It was a one man job in an afternoon when I did it. Leave all together when you pull it. I used a cherry picker and an engine leveler. Ther leveler was key!!!:smokin:

i picked one up at autozone for around $25-30 i think......don't get the harbor freight one.....even the "good" one is a piece of crap. autozone might even have it on their loan-a-tool program so you might not even have to buy it. btw, removing the front clip as said above and pulling everything as one unit is the easiest way, it is a pita to try to get the input shaft in line with the tranny in the vehicle........

I got mine thrown in with the cherry picker :smokin: , but I think they (Tool King in Denver) were selling them for 29.99 at the time!!

I have always pulled the motor alone.
Use the skidplate to hold the tranny in once the motor is out.
not that hard at all actually..
Done it a bunch of times...

have pulled motors, and with my post '80 40 series cruisers, we get the rear engine mount (gearbox mount) (part is specified as rear engine mount) and this holds the transfer and gearbox in place :D
but its not that hard and removing the front 'clip' front end si the easiest thing to do and a good place to start, take it out as a whole, and its not that difficult
as for pushing uphill, i pushed a turbo diesel with 5 speed and spliut case uphill into my garage and up a small ridge about 2" up into the garage
caution rednecks at work :flipoff2: (it is still sitting there, awaiting its cruiser) ;)
