: will i make it.
gunracer1 05-25-2002, 02:14 PM i have signed up for the pro rocks in disney, and have been sick all last week. and haven't touched my future buggy. right now i have a bare frame with 4 spring mounts, 2 of which need to be moved. two bare axle housings. tranny that needs to be adapted to the motor. and missing some carb parts for the motor. still need to hit the yards for a drive shaft and waiting on a locker from the ups man. i have the seats, but haven't figured out what braking system i will use yet. the bad part is i work 50 hrs a week and can't take any vacation to finish it. but i will bet money we will make it. more than likely get our ass kicked because we have no idea how the new rig is going to handle. i figure 8 hrs to do the tube work so there is next sunday. but i think we will pull it off and drink a few beers also. mike
ScoutsHonor 05-25-2002, 02:48 PM Hey Mike... a guy couldn't bribe you with a case or two of cold beer for some expert help in tube benderage could he??? :flipoff2:
I'm gonna pickup my new axles for the Ducky next Saturday and I gotta put em in.. but I want to have the Scout done by June 15...
and the only thing besides a bunch of small stuff I can do.. is that I need access to a bender.... I ordered one.. but its 6 weeks out... do you know anyone that could help a guy out? I'll pay for the beer and the tube.. all I need to do is build a crossmember... some front fenders... and finish my cage.... figure a days worth of work....
Matt

wngrog 05-28-2002, 06:31 AM You probably could have gotten a lot done yesterday if I had not shown up with both of my axles falling off my trailer!!
You are the MAN for taking the time to weld it up for me
Good luck at ProRock!
Grim Reaper 05-28-2002, 02:18 PM If your not wrenching on it in the parking lot just before you hit the course your not doing it right :) The only people that are not still bolting on important parts are the likes of Walker Evens and he has a crew he pays to do it for him LOL.
Good luck...Sleep is over rated. Catch naps at lunch at work :)
gunracer1 05-29-2002, 05:58 AM well i got the rear end put together last night and picked up the t case and drive shafts. going to put the front end together tonight [ finally got the locker delivered] and locate the motor/tranny/tcase. hell i think i might even get the steering tonight. sleep is for the weak.
gunracer1 05-29-2002, 08:29 PM update, its 10:30 and i just got done mounting the steering box. we got the t case mounted. the front and rear are all put together and locked. all bolted up and ready to roll. so tommorow set the tranny and motor and hook up the steering. we bolted on the 37x12.5x17 bfgs on the frame. hell its starting to look like a rig. it will happen

Off topic, we have the motor in mike's suzuki buggy listed in the RCAA program as a GSXR 1800. I crack up everytime I hear the announcer say that. :D:D:D

Hayraker 05-30-2002, 01:07 PM I keep telling him that it would be much 'Cooler' to use a 2 stroke. Couldn't you imagine Mike pulling out the 'chainsaw' gas and fillin up before each run:D

Where is this contraption located? I will come by and take a picture tomorrow....
Rock Taxi 06-03-2002, 07:25 PM Nolen, take good notes on that drivetrain....
Instead of your 350 swap, maybe you should do a 750 swap....
Seriously, tell me all about it. That sounds like a cool idea for mine.....

gunracer1 06-03-2002, 07:56 PM pix tomorrow, i have the camera just don't have the time. it has turned out very tall and skinny, i wish i could lower the top of the cage about 6" but it's not going to happen. right now its over 7' at the top. and thats on 37s. it is getting alot heavier than i wanted so the chance of blowing the shit out of the zuk axles has went way up. all the drive train is in. the tranny shifter and t case shifter were a pain in the ass. had to raise the seat up more than we wanted because it has to clear the drive train. it does have 14" of clearance under the diffs on 37s so that is great. it has a crawl ratio of about 160 to 1 with 3.73 gears in the diffs and a stock zuk t case. i am just getting real tired, i wish it was done. i am planning on doing the wiring tomorrow, but i have to see what happens. if i can't get some more done, i am going to take a day of vacation. and i really don't care what works thinks about it. thats it,i am going to drive 45 miles home and get some sleep. mike

Ed,
You'd need to get rid of most of the heavy pieces you have in your rig. Tub, D60s, driver, junkyard wars SOAR high lift, etc....
:flipoff2:

gunracer1 06-04-2002, 05:03 PM we threw in the towel, just not enough time. mike
