Well judging from the other posts, I'm not the only one trying to get my mini disk swap done for summer. It's all done except for TRE shims and brake lines. I want to run flex brake lines to the calipers, I guess. That would seem to be a lot of bend put in the hose if I do that. Has anyone had any problems just running flex lines to the calipers? Anyone have the PN for the hose they used? Oh yeah, anyone else going down for the Baja race next weekend?

I am running the braided stainless flex lines directly to the calipers, eliminating the connection at the backing plate, with no problems. My 68 got all new plumbing when I went to mini disks. I fabbed it all since ready made kits weren't available, and no real shop I have found will make brake hoses since DOT certification is required. Some applications (Earls) are made and certified, just not this one. I collected all the pieces and assembled the hoses in my garage with common hand tools, it is very easy. Make sure and get the steel fittings and hose ends, not the colorful aluminum ones.

What year is your Cruiser? The early ones used individual lines up to the frame rail (like the mini set up), but the t's are 9mmx1. Later Cruisers had the lines run towards the center of the axle and up to a tee on the frame and used the 10x1mm fittings. Earlier ones will need the t's upgraded since no 9mm adapters are available.

The caliper is tapped for a 10x1mm fitting. AN-3 or (JIS) fittings are the common size used on brakes, so you can get the 10x1mm to -3 adapters for the calipers. Adapters from the hard lines to an-3 are also available to connect to your existing hard lines, if they are 10mmx1.

So the answer depends on how much fabbing you are willing to do and what you are starting with. The cost is comparable with all new lines from Specter, but not cheap. Give us more info and specifics and I'm sure you will get several different ideas how to get it awn!

My cruiser is a '74 model. I'm trying to get the brakes hooked up in time to get down to Mexico next weekend, but I rather do this once. Where did you get the pieces required? My local NAPA store was kind of clueless.

I bought the stainless mini truck brake lines. Toyota mini and TLC brake line ends are the same. :smokin:

The stock lines don't go directly to the calipers. They connect at the backing plate to a 10x1 fitting on a hard line. Otherwise they are a good alternative for longer braided lines.

No guide, the black thing there just says the brand of line.
I took some rear brakelines from a 80ish Toyota celica, (I think)
the one that goes from the tee on the rear axle to the body.
Then I sent them to a friend to have them duplicated in stainless.

Hey Rockhugger,

What brand/pat number are those lines you used? I am interested in a simular set up.
