Hey downhillin is great and I respect the sport but, some of us like to pump those legs and crank up the heart by climbing the hill and then enjoying gravity on the way down. Anyone around here into that?

I prefer XC as well, where do you ride?

i ride xc more often than dh, great for getting in/staying in shape. I ride a 2005 Jamis Dakar XLT and im likin it, albeit a tad flexy for my size (230#). I want a new fork too...replace the vanilla 125r

I'm a XC guy.

Started on a Specialized FSR, moved up to the Jamis Dakar Expert, now I ride the Giant NRS.
My friends and I do the Chico Racing 24 Hours of Summer Solstice every summer, freak'n night laps are an absolute blast. Maybe this year we will do both 24hr events.

Don Valley trails (Thurs. nights) and Ravenshoe (Sat. or Sun. early am) are my weekly rides.

I am just getting back into riding after a 15 year hiatus. :fj:
I have been tearing it up around Folsom Lake the last few weeks in the mornings. Last Saturday, I rode the Foresthill Divide Loop until my bike broke in Ruck-A-Chucky.
My new bike is a Specialized Stumpjumper hardtail. My old bikes from 15 years ago were a GT Avalance, cabon fiber Trimble, and a soft tail Crosstrac Sonoma. The Trimble was the bike I did all my racing on. I did a lot of XC racing around the Tahoe area around 93-95.

I absolutely love cross country and single track, but I trashed my knees in a race my senior year of high school (1993, first round of the la grange classic) and haven't been able to ride well since.

I am all about some XC. Last year I trashed my GT Aggressor (had the crappy plastic RST front fork that has 15mm of travel and was pretty much rigid) so I've been down from the count.

I am now building a HD cross country bike/free ride/DH-something-or-other bike. My damn friends talked me into it  . Its got a 20mm front axle and some reflectors from an old huffy I found  .

It should be completely built by sundown tomorrow but so far it looks pretty good. I hope it performs as well as it looks...

Please excuse my fatass cat. He is an attention whore. Everytime I get out the camera he waddles over as fast as possible and lays down in front of me.

That'd be fun, there are some decent trails around whiskeytown. Maybe some day I'll get new knees and can do another race :hoping: Not to win, it's just fun to compete!

Here is the race I am entering on Wednesday. This looks like a fun series.
I should get me ass thoroughly beat :fj:

Not sure if I should enter Beginner Mens (22-34) or Clydesdales (200+).

Oh man, that's as muddy as my first, except we were in clay. Royally sucked for the guys who wrecked, that shit's hard to get off your grips!

Recently picked up MTB due to a friend's influence.

Up/Down hills and trails with say 3ft drops in some spots, total length is about 3 miles or so but haven't been to any other local spots. Bike is also a Giant NRS1 except was upgraded with a Marzocchi MX Pro 100/120 forks... I was looking at upgrading bars from the flat one but it's definately easier to go through the trails with the shorter bar.

I ride XC. Actually, I'll ride anything, I just crash alot on the downhill parts:flipoff2: My massive 1 1/4 inch of rear travel much prefers XC to DH.

I ride a Moots YBB

Hey, I didn't mean to start a post and abandon it. Got busy at work. Anyway, glad to see the response on XC. I'm 48, started getting serious with XC 6 years ago and manage to keep up (sometimes catch up) with most younger riders . Health wise it's been the best thing that I have done (less the crashes). Great cardio and stress releif.

Trail favorites for Southern Cali are Sycamore Cyn (Guadalasco Trail) and Mt Pinos when the mountain lions don't seem too hungry. Moab was a lot of fun and looking forward to getting out there again.
