Thought you guys may like to see the stands I knocked up. Mainly to help in the aid of building sliders and bumpers while on the truck. They adjust from 18" to 30" (still has 4" in the tube at max height) with just the turn of the nut. The thread size is 1" UNC and the base is a piece of folded 8mm (5/16") I had cnc plasma cut at work today.

I have been meaning to build something like that for awhile now. Only differences I considered were a piece of bar to help spin it easier and weld one nut to the top of the post and have another as a lock. Probably not necessary, but could come in handy.

Maybe also a couple with flat tops, but have holes to run a tie down through for odd shaped objects

looks good those will come in handy...Iv'e got one I made a while back to support the long end of tubing in the bender. I ended up using it for so much else that I need to make a couple more

heres the ones i made... the top piece just slips on so you can make any kind of support you need (v, flat, round, etc...)

Those are nice! Good idea, cheap, and you can make a variety of heights pretty easy!!

Nice. I'm afraid to ask what that 1" all thread costs?

Nice. I'm afraid to ask what that 1" all thread costs?

Quick glance at McMaster shows B7 (plain steel) at $18.69 for a 3' length.

Sceep -- I like the 4" adjust with a shorter thread.

 as both are cool designs. On Bubs I'd be tempted to add some "rods" to the nuts. Lift and spin the nuts for quick adjustment. With just the nut you have to thread by hand, but adding a little weight with rods like radial spokes (i.e. drill press handle) means they'd keep spinning. With 8" TPI wouldn't take much for rapid adjust.

I like the simplicity. Mine took a lot longer to make. Handles do make it easy to turn, but mine usually end up hitting something so I can only get 1/2 a turn. Should meake them removable.

I just saw a stand in an off-road magazine. It had a small hydraulic jack built next to a stand, to lift the stand into place.

Great idea!

Take a stand similar to that of sceep, then, right next to the upright, stick a smallish hydraulic jack. Weld on a tab to allow the jack to lift the upright. I'd probably also use a pin system to lock it in place, but you could have a stand that adjusts at will. More so if you made the tab movable... That would come in very handy at times.

Sorry, no pics, but I think you get the idea.
