Has anyone ever shaved the bottom of an LC axle? Would it be worth it? I have seen others do it just never heard of an LC doing it.

I have thought about it, but would like to try it on an extra axle
to how it would work out. I have never seen anyone else do it.

First of all, if you look at how the LC ring and pinioin travels in the housing, you would have to shave the ring gear for any amount you wanted to take off over 1/8"

The ring gear travels very close to the bottom of the housing compared to the usual axles that need shaving like a 14 bolt, D60 and 9" Ford.

When you shave the axle, you then have to deal with the way the 3rd member attaches. Take a good look at a Cruiser 3rd and look at the shit sandwich you would have to take a bite out of!

Finally, my shaved 9" has the same clearance as a Toyota Land Cruiser axle in it's stock form so there is really no need....
