Nolen, Butch Lewis (Butchbilt) makes a double-Optima tray designed to mount in the engine compartment of the FJ40. Not sure if it's designed specifically for a particular motor, but it might be worth the try.

i mena...a few feet of little angle iron and a piece of flat bar. then some threaded rod. how much does someone charge for one of those?

Nolen, mount one in the stock (ish) location and then mount one to the firewall like a J#$p. Other than that Mount them under the seat like I am going to..

Just use really large gauge cable. OO welding cable works well ;-)

I figure one will go where the stock location is...I really don't have room in the truck since I took out my big toolbox.

I use all the areas in the truck for tools and fluids.

Both will be in the engine compartment...just looking for where...

I used to have the dual tray that Con Fer made, but it took up too much room and was too big for my 2 optimas.

I think the kind that butch built makes is the ticket...

Nolen, I dont remember who it was a couple of weeks ago, but he showed a pic of his battery mounted on the pass side firewall where he had removed the blower. If you have no objections to ditching the blower, you could run 1 optima there in vertical with the other in stock location. It looked like a clean job.

I know you said engine compartment but I was thinking that too, then was bored and stuck them under the front seat, with a 10"x14"x2"deep box.

Hey Nolen, here is what I have going. The trays come from MAF, and connect to the top of the shock tower and fenderwell. They are very stout and well made, run about $90 each ;)

I saw those from MAF, but I have Ford shock towers, will they still work?

Removing the blower and going with an aftermarket heater (or none) leaves plenty of room for a dual tray and room up front for a York and a welder.
Joe Melhorn's rig...

Nolen,
Do you still have the stock rear heater? If you want to you can replace the front heater with another rear heater. They provide more heat than the front heater. But you will lose the window defroster. Unless you want to do some fancy ductwork..
Either work...

I like the split system from MAF. The ford Shock towers are flat on the back. Everything mounts to them :D

Pictures? Me??? Sorry man.. but I have seen it before. It looks kinda cool with the diamond shaped heater up front.
Hopefully someone else has a pic of it.

I also have a spare back heater if you are interested. I think it works okay but have not checked it in about 5 years...

Not that I remember. Wasn't your friend going to use it first? And you are the one that told me where to mail it to :p

Your presents come when I can get to a Cigar shop and get a proper container for transportation ;)

And the heater is not going anywhere. Just tell me if you want it.
