this is on the intake manifold, right? it's EGR stuff........... if
you're not going to run any smog, block off the plate. (I'd
use an air house with a rubber tip on it to pressure it and find
out exactly what is connected to it first though. (buy an
aftermarket aluminum intake manifold without smog crap on
it and you'll be better off, with better performance.

im broke as a mofo! cant afford a new intake right now :( but, what do you mean
"an air house with a rubber tip on it to pressure it and find
out exactly what is connected to" id need to do this while its running correct? id like to get it all taken care of while its sittin on the stand. that way its all ready to go in.

well, i just yanked it out. its just a little tube that bends under the heads soirta then comes right back out. i had to tweak it a bit and twist to get the bent part out w/ it. so...im just gonna cap it. what was the point of htis? it seems like it was to heat up the fluid or air in the tube:confused:
whatever.....its capped! :rasta:

Can't really tell from the pic, need to pan back some.
But I'm thinkin it looks like a heat riser for the choke housing on the carb. If your not running a heat riser choke housing, you won't need it. But if you don't get it blocked off good, your gonna have an exhaust leak. :skull:

I meant to "pressurize it" by using an air source, with a rubber-
tipped air nozzle on the end. put it into the hole/port, and pump
some air into it.... if it doesn't blow out of some other hole, then
its a "blind" hole. if it let's air thru to some other hole, you'll have
to cap that one as well............

I still think it's only egr crap. You won't need it for a running
motor, just only for smog. your exhaust manifolds will determine
what you'll end up needing as well........... But I still think you're
going to want to run an aftermarket intake manifold..... sheesh,

you can find used intakes all day long at the flea markets, yard
sales, swap meets for under 25 bucks.

try finding an older edelbrock "streetmaster" or Torquer intake.

that tube is there to heat up the choke mechanism on the carb so it can tell if the engine is warm. ditch it, cap the hole and run a newer elecric choke pot.

That is not EGR. It is for old style choke thermostat(hot air). One side would hook to the choke stove on the carb. and the other side would hook to the back of the carb.for fresh air. the choke stove had a meterd vac. leak in it that pulled fresh air through it and would superheat it( thoes tubes inside go through a cross-over exhaust passage).
so if your carb. doesn't have that fitting then don't worry about it.(unless you are smogging it).

like everyone else said get an electric choke you don't need the stove tube. plug it
