I met up with a bunch of fullsize guys up above Naches (Home of Funnyrocks, 676, Powerline, ect.) this weekend. PNWFS. Great bunch of guys wheelin' everything from a hot 383 in a primo Blazer, to a Suburban! Not one Suburban, but 3! I ran Powerline with them on Sunday. Rain on Sunday made little mud holes BIG! And normal trails slicker that greased Owl shiat! I have to say thanks to all, Arin, Don, Shane, John(hope in aint broke to bad), Mike, Suburban Mike, and everyone else.

Thanks!

Last I heard powerline was closed, Due to the conduit the line is buried in is exposed in some of the mudholes. Watch out when you are running up there.

The spots where the line is "exposed" are logged off. I know they have that box that tells them how close the cable is to the surface, but exposed? Over the weekend they ran 3/4 of powerline. If it is closed there where a lot of people on a closed trail. At about 7:30 PM there were at least 3 clubs converged on the trail. The one my buddies are in "Cascade Crawlers" the PNW Fullsize group, and a group from the Yakima Valley (Everyone I know it seems).

Poor Jeeps didn't know what to do!

I know my sig line....

I talked to the forest service yesterday at crow creek camp ground and there is talk of closing powerline because of the reasons ben stated, as of now they are recommending people stay out! but it is still open, it will be closed soon as well as a lot of other trails if people don't figure out FS land is not the place to cover your rig with globs of mud then drive home thinking you are cool!!! enjoy your trails while they are open!!!

This was a point not lost on anyone I talked to. I asked a couple of fullsize guys about having a work day and there is a general willingness to do so. We just need to set a date and get the word out.

As for being covered in mud, everyone was: bikes, Jeeps, Blazers, Broncos, Suzukis, you name it! One of the rangers stopped by the PNWFS camp and said it wasn't good for the "4 wheel drive crowd" for us to be driving around covered in mud. The problem we face is where to wash off! We all knocked off the big stuff, but how do you get the volume of water to clean a rig up in the campground? If you did manage the water, are you going to clean off your rig in the campground? If not then where?

We need to organize and figure these things out. The best orginization, I think, for this is PNNW(?)-the group most clubs go through to become official up here.

One thing I saw that most people would agree with is the handful of people that give 'wheelers a bad name. You know the type, drinkin' on the trail & drivin', throwing cans/bottles along the trail, and those that are generally just bein' an arse.

God help us!

agreed, I also think the FS needs to set the rules and enforce them, they seem to change depending on which guy you talk to?? I would like to see powerline stay open so there is a place to play in the mud and maybe they will stay out of the meadows, like the top of milk creek. I for one welcome the fullsizes as long as they don't cut the trees and take the bruises that will come from the tight trails, as far as being just a few giving us a bad name there are more than a few, I spend a lot of time at naches and it is a staggering number of people that do not respect the area, the problem is that everyone, 4x4 and bikes and all the other campers littering and making a mess but the 4x4's get blamed, because we are the most visible...... because of this we need to be especially carefull, as far as washing off there is a difference between normal trail/ FS road spray and obvious mud slinging,,,, I will say the pnwfs guys all in all were not that dirty?? at least not like the jack ass down in the center of the meadow at crow creek....but they were alcohol induced judging the intensity of the party!!!
