On a SOA what is the min. clearance you want to have between the axle and the bumpstop?

Everyone that I know has had to ramp their rig to figure out where to locate the bump stops...too many variables...springs....shocks...flex...

Depends on your tire size/width an most importantly the width of your axle/tire combo.

My front bumpstops are 2-3" from the springplates with my 42's, but because my axle/tires are so wide it provides a lever action that allows the tires to fully stuff into the fenders

Here is a picture of my bumpstop at rest...If I am not there to explain, people think it is crazy that they are that close...

Works though

keep your bumpstops
 i WANT your axles DAMN!!! :smokin:

out of curiosity nolen, what have you broken recently?
cheers

edit: i was meaning, like, when you are out, do you have ANY reliability issues with parts?? for me, it's mainly birfields and driveshafts that i destroy, and panels :p

seems like you never say anything about damage?
so the only problem with it, is not enough time in the day to finish having fun with it?

When I first went "one ton", I broke a rear yoke because I did not have a traction bar.

I replaced the 1310 yoke and had a nice trac bar built and then preceded to break 2 more 1310 rear driveshafts at the Ujoint.

I replaced the rear with a 1410 non-CV driveshaft from High Angle and all have broken in 9 months is 3 windshields :D

I spend about an hour before I go out "pre-flighting" my rig keeping everything lubed and tightened and I have cought some things that could have been HORRIBLE if I had not caught them in the garage.

I just wish more of my wheeling buddies would check their junk over in the garage before we leave versus on the trail burning up wheeling time!!!
