The stock speedo on my FJ-40 just craped out, so I orderd a Autometer gauge. I know on jeeps that there is a gear in the speedo cable to calibrate for bigger tires and gears. Is there one on a 1969 FJ-40? How do you guys that run aftermarket speedometers hook it up to the stock unit?(I also need a longer speedo cable). Will all the gauges be a pain to hookup to the Jap stuff or just the speedometer?
Also, I might get a manafre gauge plate, since I will be adding a tach what are the main gauges to have on a DD...I'll rig it to fit an extra gauge if I have to. What gauges do you use in your aftermarket gauge cluster?
Thanks...

You might consider using an electronic speedo. It would have an electronic sender at the TC, and you would calibrate it to read correctly. That way it's easy to recal if you change tires or gear ratio.

I have seen one of those in a Jegs catalog...(page 119 for those of you with one handy:flipoff2: )
AutoMeter sells conversion senders that must be used with the electronic one for ford, chrylser and gm, so does that mean you don't need one for a yota? It says can be used with OE sender...
I may give them a call ina minute if they're still open...
Keep the info rolling in...:flipoff2:
Thanks
