I just picked up a Dragster 85 to power my battery only RW II.
Two batteries were way too much amperage for Jeep sheet metal and one battery would not even penatrate.
The dragster's output is 23.9vdc so it seems perfect for the RW II.
Played with it a little today on some scrap and it did good with .30 flux core.
Should be just the thing for sheet metal.
Can't wait to get some solid core wire and gas.
I got the Tig torch and argon flow meter with it.
Plan on adding a foot control like this

Can I use pure argon for MIG?
Anyone else using a CC DC power supply on a RW II?

I've got the Dragster 85. I've only used it for stick welding on 1/8", but I like it pretty well. I was looking for something to run on 110 and found it close-out on Sears.com for $260 with the TIG torch, regulator and case. I need to buy a small argon bottle and give the TIG a shot. I've got a PT275 water cooled, so no need to drag out the dragster at home. Thanks for the feedback on the RWII, I've contemplated getting one and hadn't thought about powering it with the Dragster!

You really need to use the CO2 argon mix for best results. Would you verify that link? It got me to welding web, but not the thread.

I've heard Sears was closing them out. How long ago did you get it? I wonder if there are any left.

Two batters should be 24-28v. Doesn't seem like you'd be getting much difference unless you have amperage control.

The best thing for a RW and sheet metal is to use a one 12v and one 6v battery paired to make 18v. Works great.

I've had it about a year and they sold out just after that.

I agree on the sheetmetal welding with the RW unit. 3 batteries will vaporise steel and will spray arc :D..
2 batteries is too much power and you will burn through a LOT.
1 12v even with .045 is too little power.
1 12v and one huge golf cart 6v battery works VERY well with sheet.. Different wire sizes and gas will fine tune the welding... :D

I wouldn't recommend it... You will have a very unstable arc resulting in lots of splatter.
