OK I get no power to anything. I hooked up the battery and nothing. I turn the ignition and nothing. No stereo, lights or anything.

Where would you guys start?

No power to the ignition either. Also tried to see if there was power to the fuse boxes and didn't seem like there was power there either.

I did move the neg. battery cable to the frame instead of the body. Still nothing.

help! :crybaby2:

Check the fuseable link. If thats ok try moving the ground back to the body.

Where would the fuseable link be?

Now I am wondering if it would of been better to spend the $$ and attempt to do the EFI conversion you did in a weekend

Thanks oops! Still did not work though

I have

1 wire from the block to the frame.
1 wire from the frame to the body.
1 wire from the body to the neg. battery terminal.

Am I missing something?

There is a 10 or 12 gauge wire running from the + side of battery to the fuse box on the passenger side inside fender. If your battery slides around or you moved the battery harness many times you could of broke the terminal where the wire connect to the underside of the fuse box. It would be laying under the fuse box hidden so you wouldn't be able to easily see that it broke.

Good Luck!

Ya, Eric give me a call when you get back then. Do you have the power wires hooked up to the starter?

Thanks a ton! :D you were on the money. I thought that wire was a ground wire. Hooked it up to the pos. battery terminal and perfect.

Still doesn't quite start - but at least it turns over now.

Woody99,

Glad to hear that it turns over now. Too bad it doesn't start though. Describe the situation with more detail (do you get spark, etc).....I may have some other suggestions if you get me more details.

TF Senior,

Won't be able to work on it until this weekend. After I cranked it over I didn't have any more time to look into it further.

Going to try adding some more fuel to the newly installed EFI fuel tank.

Anybody know if I have to somehow bleed the EFI lines???

No bledding necessary. It will 'prime' it'self. Check for spark, and take it from me..........double check your timing. If it's 180 deg out, it will not start.

No need to bleed the gas lines. Just let it crank for a while. Should only take 60 secs or so.

You can crack the line up at the filter to make sure you have pressure.

Check your EFI fuse, and Circuit opening relay. Also remember it won't run without the MAF.

When I did my EFI swap, I didnt have any power going to the AFM and it ran crappy. The FSM wasn't that clear where one of the wires went out of the 6 or 7 that go to it.

Heres the newest problem.

No fuel to the filter/efi. When I crank it over fuel comes out of the fuel tank vent lines.

I have not connect the vent lines to the charcoal cannister yet, but does anybody know if this should be happening???

Sounds like you have the fuel tank vent line and the fuel tank return like crossed. Also, remember that the fuel pump will only pump when it is cranking or when it is running.

Thanks for the info. I orignally thought I could get away with not hooking up those lines... but... that is not the case.

So I guess what you are saying that the fuel returns to the tank from the pressure regulator?

woody99

Well I hooked up the line from the tank to the regulator and still no fuel to the fuel filter.

Fuel pump might be bad I guess...

Time to watch LA get their ass kicked :flipoff2:

I just replaced my EFI tank internals last week. The tank has a breather hose connection adjacent to the fuel pump bracket. The pump bracket head has the threaded fitting for the pressurized fuel line, the return line connection, and the electrical connector.
When you turn on the ignition the pump primes the the fuel line. it runs constantly while the ignition is powered up. You can hear it run if you put your head next to the right rear wheel (to verify it's working). According to a few Toyota techs i've spoken with, the Toy fuel pumps rarely if ever go bad.
The fuel line runs to the regulator, which feeds gas back to the tank through the fuel pump bracket when overpressurized by the pump. Besides that there's the filler neck and vapor return line from the filler neck.
Hope I'm not clarifying the obvious.

Dave - I have known of at least 2 people with Fuel Pumps that went bad. Not sure if thats the case yet but will find out soon. I think I have it plumbed correctly. Exactly how you explained it. Still no gas to the fuel filter.

ECliff - Will give you a call tomorrow.

Anybody know where the EFI relay is located on an 85?

How about the fuel pump relay? :skull:
