My neighbor gave me an engine hoist the other day. It appears to be a harbor freight, but there are no manufacturers markings on it. The ram was leaking, but I've rebuilt it and it's working fine, however, the boom and hook are missing. I've called HF and Northern tool and the company that supplies them, but no luck on a replacement. Can anyone point me either in the direction of where a new one can be sourced or the dimensions of the boom and how the hook attaches to it?
Many thanks!

do you have any pics? Can you find pics of a similar looking model on their website?

My cherry picker came from Sam's Club. I'm assuming you're looking for the part of the boom that extends? If so mine is a piece of 1.75 x 3 inch steel tube that is 34.5 inches long. It has one hole for the 'adjustment' about 4" in from the rear and another hole 2" in from the boom end for the chain attachement. The chain goes through a slot in the bottom of the boom up to the hole where a bolt secures it.

Rockcrawln, can't find an identical match, though to be honest I've no idea how old it is (though it appears unused).
Hack, thanks for that, you're exactly right, it's the part that extends. those measurements are very helpful, too.

so just get a peice of steel and make one yourself. much easier than trying to find a "part#" and faster.

Probably cheaper to make one yourself too.

Don't tell me you need to pull the engine out of your Defender!

Nope, need to pull the body and running gear off of the bentley to drop it all on the new frame.
Now I need to find 2.5" x 3.25" tube . . .

Cool! I found an older Roller out in front of a construction machinery junkyard. SWMBO says I can't buy anything with a title until after we move:flipoff2:
