: 1996 Bronco MPG Problems
OliveToy 04-11-2007, 04:39 PM My girlfriend just bought my moms bronco, she likes it but I had her track her mileage and corrected for tire size and it is getting 12.25 MPG! WTF!!! Its a 1996 with a 351W all stock, no CELs, 35'' Les Schwab mud terrains, K&N drop in air filter, resent plugs/wires/dist cap/o2 sensors/fuel pump, auto, 70k, no speedo correction which I know doesn’t help but 12.25 MPG. Is this out of line or normal?
EMG7895 04-11-2007, 05:22 PM I'd say thats about normal, tell her to have fun filling that 30 something gallon tank.
Ak_F250 04-11-2007, 05:59 PM Thats not bad. Correct the speedo so it shifts right, that should help.
cjw2006 04-11-2007, 06:06 PM That's a V8 SUV, with oversized tires and the aerodynamics of a brick for you.
Really that's not too bad for a bronco, especially with 35's.

I'd say try to the data port underneath the dash. Maybe it's OBD-II?
masterbeavis 04-11-2007, 08:46 PM Its normal. Mine gets 10-11, bone stock, with 235/85/16's.

Demontang 04-12-2007, 12:17 PM I get around 18mpg highway and I have a 8" lift and 35's, intown I get 14-16mpg. I do have a 5.0 and not a 5.8 though
OliveToy 04-12-2007, 02:22 PM Thanks guys, I already did nice wires, plugs and cap/rotor so I guess I will just order the coil and regap the plugs/advance timing. See if I have time to correct the speedo tonight, this thing still isnt going to get shit for mileage is it?

mines a supercab, making it whistle while accelerating is hard to while driving easy:flipoff2:
Demontang 04-13-2007, 05:22 PM Gears do help out, I didnt believe the guy I got it from when he told me he got 18mpg.
PROJECTJUNKIE 04-14-2007, 11:09 AM My 91 bronco 5.8 AT got 11mpg, fresh tune, no codes, 3.54 32" ATs. Major fuckin disapointment, since I could squeeze that out of my 75 on 35" MTs. I was a broke dick student, I did everything I could, never got better, sold it and bought a toyota. Gas savings nearly made the payment :D
