I found an older miller thunderbolt ac/dc stick welder for 200 bucks.

It has all of the equipment for tig(torch, leads, and some other goodies). Is 200 bucks a good deal?

From the pictures it looks like it's in very good shape.

Some advice would be priceless, or i guess 200 bucks if i buy a POS welder.....Thanks guys

I have seen the tig attachment go on ebay for a little less than that. It would be worth trying to deal on.

Thunderbolt is a stick welder. AC/DC $200 for a newer one is a good deal.

TIG -- what "tig" stuff is with it?

It is not ideal as a TIG welder because you are limited to DC applications like steel, you need to "scratch start" and you don't have remote current control, but it will TIG weld if you get a bottle of argon. It is a good deal as a AC/DC stick welder alone.

Older transformer style TIG welders sell in the range of $300-1,000 depending on their age, features and tooling. Generally they are much larger than the T-bolt.

Scratch/lift arc is easy, and DC tig is all you need 99% of the time unless your doing aluminum. Personal I like the lift arc style better, set your amps and your good. If you can remember to turn the gas on or off.
The foot control is great for a table or bench. But if your out of position laying on the ground or up in the air somewhere they suck. You can get a finger tip control for the torch if needed.
I guess what iam saying is unless you need to do Aluminum you don't need the HF and pedel. All it is in more crap to trip over.
