reading in a 4x mag, in an article it was mentioned that a few axles have been shortened to 60WMS, what does this mean and how do you measure the track width of an axle? also, when custom building a triangular four link, do u put put rod ends on all the links or only one end with a bushing on the other to keep the axles from moving side to side? thanks.

60 wms refers to width in inches (60) wms stands for wheel mount surface to wheel mount surface. this would be a 60 inch wide axle. You can put whatever ends you want on either end of a link. Some put rubber or poly at an end to help absorb vibration/bumps ect. Which end varies but I believe its usually the axle end that gets the softer cushion. Although it varies.

Like was posted above...the type of joints you use really will be dependent on that rig's purpose. Bushings are used to absorb some vibration and road feel whereas a rig with rod ends of some type on all the link ends will flex more without bind. The triangulation takes care of the side to side loading, not the rod ends themselves.

i take it then that the wms includes the brakes being mounted? and thanks for the rod end answer.

Yes, mounting flange to mounting flange. That would be the outside of the drums or the outside of the rotors.
