Installing 3.0 headers next weekend, should I use loctite or just lockwashers?? I thought you didn't use anything, but when I had headers on my CJ-7, I used to blow gaskets frequently cause the bolts would loosen. Any thoughts on preventing that? The 3.0 isn't easily accessible for a header install, I'd like to try and do it once....Thanks
Jeremy
Use Permatex Copper Coat gasket adhesive on both sides of the header gaskets and let them tac up for a few minutes before installing them. I use the spray can version. I did not use locktite on the bolts since you have to retighten them after a few miles. If they were locktited, you would break the locktite when you tried to retighten them. I have never had a problem with my headers in the 6+ years that I have had them installed.
FYI....don't waste your time trying to take out the rear crossover pipe in one piece. Just cut the thing out and save yourself a few hours and some bloody knuckles.

If you can buy new OEM studs and the lock nut plus the copper coat gasket crap, if not get the hi-temp locktite. Do you have a body lift? The 3.0 headers fit real tight and even a 1" BL helps. You may want to get something to protect the fuel lines that run down the passenger side wheel well to help prevent vapor lock.
