We arrived yesterday in Hannibal Mo. for our first comp in Ftoy 48. Cool place. The event site is cut out of the side of a mountain right off of the main highway into town. Forecast for today........snow, then rain and chilly.....whoopie! The host hotel is cool with large indoor atrium, pool, video games, karoke bar, etc. We pulled up and all the rigs are parked out front with competitors and spectators milling around, quite a site. We parked the Ftoy in the competitors area and almost immediately got lookers and questions, all good of course. It was good to see a positive reaction among this crowd. So far everyone from Big Rich all the way to the stock rig competitors have been very nice and approachable, willing to give advice to obvious newcomers.

Looks like we'll tag along behind one of the stock mod groups today as we're the only Ftoy. Outside right now there's a little light rain but no snow and it doesn't seem that cold.:)

I so wanted to stop and stay for the event. I'm a wuss I guess but was dang tired of pull'n a 30' GN in the wind Thursday knowing if I stayed I'd be pull'n it in the snow again.

Ok, well it was nasty:barf: Really nasty. Quite a few rigs got the hook.

It took a long time for us to get on our first course. We were staged at the back of one of the stock mod groups with 6 or 7 rigs. I'm not sure if any stock mods in the second group made it thru our first course c3 but none of the ones before us in our group made it.........but we did! At that time we had the best score with a 37 after tagging the final gate and a few too many backs. Can I restate that it was nasty! Some of the stock mods didn't make the first gate and the entrance got completely arsed out. We were stoked!

Then we were running late to our next course C1. I pulled up to the start and couldn't get the front Elocker to engage. Normally it will engage as soon as one of the wheels spins or if I roll forward. Not this time. We knew right away we were in trouble as we tried the bonus line and had 3 wheel drive. Crap. Well we're already in now so try to make the best of it. We made 2 gates and got hung hard on the r/f shackle and timed out. Lesson learned. All I had to do was slightly loosen the mounting bolts for the locking solenoid and it locked in without even rolling. I'll leave it engaged for the rest of the weekend and sort it out at the shop next week.

Camera died before the last 2 courses. We hit one cone on C2, a couple backs and got a 13. Then we turned around and ran it backwards for C4. We decided to go for the first gate bonus line and after a brief hangup on the r/f shackle we cleaned it to finish with a -7 !!!!

Ok I know she's my daughter but I must say that I had the hottest spotter at the comp. I can't say enough about how well she did today. She dropped a rock on her finger during the above mentioned brief hang up on C4 and broke the finger !!! Minor explitive that only I heard on the radio and no other mention of it until after we were off the course then it was only "Hey Dad I broke my finger back there" "Do we need to go to the hospital?" "No I wanna go buy a event T-shirt". HARDCORE!!!:eek:

Can't wait til tomorrow. Warmer, drier weather. Just wish I had some other Ftoys to play with. Can you hear me East coast Toys!!???

Sunday much better weather, cold in the am but great after that. Our first course was C4, definitely the most technical of the day. A big pile of loose bolders with an angled drop to the finish gate. Most of the mod stockers had trouble on this course but some made it clean. We made it clean until I dug the front end a bit and slid the driver rear on top of the last gate cone. Lesson learned. We had 5 minutes left and it would have been better to back again and line up better. No pics here as our photographer (my wife) was running back to the trailer to find April's gloves :shaking:. Then it was over to C1 for an easy run, pick up the bonus gate for -11. No drama here and no pics. If I find some pics i'll add them here later.

Next course was C2. It was any easy run until the last gate that had a bonus that all the mod stocks had tried. Some had nailed it and some got nailed by it and had to have help getting down. We cruised this course with no problems. I have a poor quality video that i'll link later.

Last and least was C3 on top of the hill. Same course as Saturday with a few gate changes and run backward from Saturday. No problems here. I like this pic. For you left coasters those vertical things in the background are trees and they came into play a few times for us this weekend.

We spent a lot of time watching this weekend. We learned a lot. Hopefully we represented the Ftoy class respectively. We had a blast! Thanks to all the other competitors that took time out to give us advice, all the course judges, Big, Little, and family, Tom for having such a great venue for this event, Interco and FSR products for helping us out. Can't wait til the next event. Anyone thinking of getting invloved in comps or Ftoy should definitely go to a comp and check it out. Warning-you will be instantly hooked!!

Good Job! The first one is always the hardest. I'm glad you had a good time.

It was nice to see an F-Toy out there, even if you were kicking our butts. I will have to say, that is my favorite class out there. Good job on your first event.

I would guess youll see growth/interst like the west. First year you, maybe another one.

Next year, probably a steady 4-6, and on from there. My guess is within 2 years, every WErock event will have 10+ Ftoys running. They are just too easy, cheap, and reliable rigs to not build.

Congrads, but did you really doubt that sweet machine? :smokin: Glad to hear it was as much fun as I think it will be. Can't wait to finish mine and get out there with ya a few times next year. Props to you and your family for truly making it a family effort and sport.:cool2:

The one mistake of entering C1 on Saturday with the front locker not engaging on a course that would have been a cake walk thru the bonus gate cost us. We should have finished that course with a -10 or -12 and timed out with a 38. So we'd have had a 19 total at least. My fault totally. Like I said above we learned a lot and that's what this year is all about for us, that and having fun and we did have a shat load of fun.
