I guess you get what you pay for. If you haven't read my past threads I have had problems with a new Edelbrock cam. I think the first cam wasn't hardened correctly. I called Jegs and they had no problem shipping me a new one. I received it when they told me I would and everything was fine. So I thought. The plan was to receive the cam Friday, install it that night, and head out for some weekend wheeling.
I get the cam and cut out of work planning on a nice weekend. I started lubing up the cam so I can install it. I get to the exhaust lobe for number 3 and I find a large hole in the casting. :mad3: It is 1/16" in diameter and about 3/16" deep. (see pics) I called Jegs and after 1 1/2 hours on the phone with 4 different people I get things worked out.:mad3:I now have a Comp cam on order and will try to never buy another Edelbrock product again. So the moral of this story is stay away from Edelbrock!!
Edelbrock Sucks!

2 defective cams and you want to shoot down the whole company?

Yes DRM, I have purched many Edelbrock parts in the past and the only thing that hasn't been fawked or had problems was the proformed intake. I have a buddy that went throught 3 new Edelbrock cams trying to find one that would work. (I didn't find this out until last weekend) Do you like pumping metal shavings thought a new motor? I don't. That's a total count of 5 with 2 people so you make the call.

So this is why I down Edelbrock. Why do you defend them? Do you have stock in the company?

I did not defend anyone - But you did not include these other instances in your original post, did you?

Just so you know, Edelbrock does not make the cam, they only designed the profile. Crane is the one you should be mad at.

Sounds like you have some incredibly bad luck or that is one hell of a coincidence..I have two seperate motors that run the edelbrock cam part number 7102, one has a edelbrock rpm performer intake and edelbrock carburator and the other runs the same cam, the 1000cfm proflo injection(4 years old with not a single defect) and the edelbrock heads with no complaints.the only complaint I have had about them in the past is tha it took forever to get through to some one there when calling the toll free tech line ...but, the last few times I have called I got through in under 10-15 minutes which was much better than in the past when I had sat on holding for 45 minutes.anyways sorry to hear about such bad luck..:)

Sorry 'bout your luck, but Edelbrock generally has a great rep. And I'm totally happy with the Performer RPM cam & intake I have under the hood of my mud racer. My 408 has survived many trips to the rev limiter (6,400) since 1997 :)

Yes on both counts:D I just expect parts that will work and do what is advertised.

I'm glad that others haven't had a problem.
All I can say is Edelbrock has lost me as a customer:D

inspect any parts thoroughly.
everyone makes junk parts for the masses.
