Well, you know the drill:flipoff2:

I got a crapload done. Finally did the SOA on in the rear, and aussie'd it at the same time. Also re-did some brake lines, realized I may have one good body mount on the whole truck, and then realized as it sits the damn thing ain't fitting through the door:laughing:

Got to get the huge shackles off the rear, then i'll fit, and give the driveshaft the extra inch it needs. Then, fill the rearend, bleed the brakes, and proceed to test the aussie. Pics to follow sometime:flipoff2:

Decided I didn't want to pay what people want for 12V LED's so I made up some myself to use as indicator lights. Made 50 red, 10 green, and 10 yellow for what it would have cost me to order 5 from most of the people that sell them online. I know I don't need that many, but it's cheaper to order the stuff in bulk. I'm also thinking about making up some LED tail/brakelights to put under the stock lenses.

Wife had her first doctors appointment since we found out she's pregnant, everything's great and I now have a nice little picture that looks like a lima bean on radar.

Played army the rest of the weekend. Had my PT test on saturday, ran my first mile in 6 minutes... The second one wasn't quite so fast... ended up running 2 in 14:30. Not to bad for a smoker that hasn't ran in over a year. :flipoff2: I hate running. :mad3:

Nothing really scout related. I do hope to make some progress the next 2 weeks since I'll have the house to myself and the whole garage to play in. :D

I also have 2 front rotors(2wd). They spec oout at about 1.20. Anyone know the minimum thickness? On the back it looks like 1.12. They have a bit of rust, but should be ok.

I'm thinking this is a 392 improved cooling...correct?

Went up to reddington pass to check out a new area and it turned into quite an adventure. I was having starting problems all day and the guy I was with twisted his rear drive shaft in half. After pulling him up the last big hill, he made it out in 2wd.
Today I tracked down my starting problem and fixed it, just a short in some extranious crap. All better now.

What NEW area Dirt Bag? Don't be keeping the wheeling spots secret like the pussy jeepers.

:D

All I did was goto the drag strip and run slower times than I did in Denver when the Car was bone stock. :shaking: I couldn't put the power down till past the 1/8. Man I stunk up the place. :(

Just up to chimney rock, heading in the back way. Neat scenic tour for the most part. Next time I would just go in from the top to chimney rock and play around on the granite. Lots of cool features there. Too bad the scout was having issues, I might of been able to flip it:flipoff2: .

yeah sorry I didn't call ya, it was pretty last minute. I was going to go hiking w/ Sam but couldn't find anyone to watch the dogs, so we shot up there instead.

I got longer shocks for the rear btw. it's alot better, but seems like I am still coming up short in droop. I have a few more tweaks to try, but may just wait 'til I'm back in Lander to work on it.

Took the sawsall to the Scout just to make room for the l/s exhaust and trans shifter, then took some measurements and drew up a transmission crossmember. I pm'd Shawn from Great Lakes Offroad, waiting on a reply on weld on brackets.

Sat it rain all day, not much got done.
Sunday pulled my engine, cam bearing issue.
While it's out I am thinking of moving the engine back say 3-4 inches. ( Anybody move there engine back that much?) If so what issues besides the fire wall. I figure I can cut and weld in some sheet metal. I want to put a lincoln electric fan up front and it's a monster, which means I need 3" Can't move the radiator forward much, big tranny cooler.

I went to one of those game perserves a couple years ago in South Dakota to pheasant hunt. They had to release x number of birds per acre. I really like the way this ran their outfit... they released all the birds they had to for year at once early in the year. By the time we went up there to hunt in the fall, the birds had been running wild in the milo and corn for about 1/2 a year. They were even on their 3rd hatching of youngin's in the wild. So, even though it was a game perserve, it was pretty much just like a wild hunt.

There are some places in Alabama where they pretty much pull a bird out of a cage and throw it up in the air in front of you.

Speaking of... Friday afternoon it was in the 50's so I went ahead and mowed the lawn. Friday night it started raining, the rain turned to snow and I ended up with 3 inches on the ground when I got up saturday. Saturday afternoon it was in the 50's again. I love the midwest. :shaking:

Most of the weekend was tied up being sick, and getting the little one baptized and all of the family stuff that goes along with it.

But late Sunday I got my bumper and receiver hitch installed.

Shoulda run the 2x1/8" flat bar a bit farther out to the sides - the rear crossmember is a bit more visible than I expected. Bumper is slightly farther out than the stocker was.

Got the square U-bolts cut down and installed at the front end of the receiver hitch, so that's all done, too.

Still need to install the brake controller and wire up the trailer connector.

Since I was painting stuff anyhow..

Yes, IC. Nice crusty block... got to love it when folks start taking things apart then just let them sit with no protection

Nothing for me, much. Put the now straightened spring back on the racer, only took me all week to do that 1/2 hour project. Started cleaning the shit out of my main shelf in the garage. Looking for a Vin plate for a truck I sold... no luck. Makes me wonder if it was ever on there in the first place. O-well, there are [legal] ways around that and I did get a cleaner garage out of it.

Did run up and see Hooper Sunday. Picked up a kids play-set from him (haul it out of my yard  ) and had dinner. Good to get out and see people every once in a while. I don't think we even talked IH the whole night. Now that's rare.. oh, wait, we did ;)

We did have fun watching my daughter (the little ham) take a few more steps... when she wants to :cool2: .

Me too, but no pics. Nice rig, wish I would've got the chance to BS with you a bit. Friday's rain made Saturday interesting. The group I was with spent over 2.5 hours on Ingrid's, and we took a bailout because it was getting dark. I wanted to try Dozer, Quicksand, and Vertical Challenge but didn't even make it to that side of the park.

I did get a kick out of it, though...
Was I the only Scout II? No.

Only Scout II on 44's and coils? No.

So, today I called HAD and ordered up a 1410 u-bolt style yoke for the 14b and picked one up for the D60F while I was at it.

Tore apart the 392 I just put in my pickup. It had very poor oiling and after trying many things to diagnose what was wrong, I decided it was time to go inside and see. Turns out the cam and bearing were out of spec, and one was trashed. Everything else is good, so it looks like a fairly easy rebuild.

http://www.binderbulletin.org/photopost/data/503/339Lifter_Gallery.jpg

http://www.binderbulletin.org/photopost/data/501/339Cam_and_crank_bearings.jpg

Then today I had so much fun tearing apart my 392, I decided to tear into Dad's 401!!

http://www.binderbulletin.org/photopost/data/501/339T_all_one.jpg

Damn intake ways almost as much as the IH. And we had been running it a mere 30 minutes before, so the damn thing was HOT:eek: !
http://www.binderbulletin.org/photopost/data/501/339T_all_two.jpg

Actually this is all because of an ongoing problem. Up until we had replaced almost everything fuel, timing and spark related with the exception of a major rebuild. Last night Dad installed a Petronix and a new dizzy. Still wouldn't run right cold and had major vacuum leaks. Finally about 8pm tonight we find it's pulling air between the intake and the heads. 30 minutes later it's as it sits now and I've got to get up early and track down the parts needed to fix it, so we can road trip on Saturday with it.
