I read a post about these and it got me lookin around. I love the idea of having a bunch of switches and things on the dash. That way I feel special:D
Anyway, I like this switch but not sure if it will work...
It is definatly a 3 way switch with return to center which I like. I believe it is ON-OFF-ON. Could I wire it up so that it made say to the right in cable and to the left out cable?
Im thinking that I would have to have a forward and reverse switch and then a activate button but it would be cewl to get it all in one switch...
Muchos Gracias!
Here is a pic of the switch...

I think you should buy it, make it work, then write it up. that way my lazy ass can have it to w/o doing a damn thing. :flipoff2:
Definitely looks like a cool switch to have on the dash, I hope somebody can figure this out:beer:
I aint buyin that thing unless I am sure it will work. Damn thing costs $34.00!!!
But it is a pretty heavy duty deal. Dont know why I need a heavy duty switch, but somehting in my dic... I mean head tells me I do.:D

What kind of winch you got?
If it is a Ramsey you can make it work with ease and they left enough room to run your wiring in the OE hole too.
I used 16-3 extention cord bulk wire with black insulation for mine. Took about 2 hours to do it most of which was getting to and rewiring the solenoids then dealing with the dash.
If it's a Ramsey I can answer about any question you have.
I will have a Warn 9000:D (In the mail), the one with the solenoid integrated into the winch.
It would be really nice to be able to leave the remote control hole open if I could figure out how to do it.
I like the extension cors idea. I hadent thought about that.
Im thinking I would also like a master on off switch with a cover. That would suck to bump that thing enouggh times and ripping somehitng off my truck from over tightening or snag a loose hook on somehting.
All things to think about.

you can hook it up the way you describe ty, just need to figure out the pinout of the warn remote control plug. i'd pick up another remote plug to use so you could 'unplug' the dash wired switch if you wanted to. personally i'd rather not pop the top off a brand new winch to hook the extra wires up.
just make your on/off switch control the hot that runs to the in/out switch ... no biggee ... it's so easy even an auburn student should be able to figure it out :D

HEY NOW! :flipoff2:
Whadda ya tell a University of Alabama graduate to get them off your front porch?
How much do I owe ya for the pizza?
:D :D
I like the idea of having the two remote plugs and just be able to switch them. I also would fear tearing into a brand new winch to wire things up. But then again it would be slick to be able to have the dash switch active and the remote at the same time...
Well, I guess Im gonna drop the cash and order the switch. Im burning my winch into place next time I get back to Columbus for a weekend.

I don't know about that. I live in NW GA and I have run across plenty of auburn alumni that were having a hard time tieing their shoes. :) They are usualy in here trying to get me to teach them how to use their cell phone. They just can't get it through their thick skull there is no dial tone. :)
As long as the switch is concidered a double pole double throw momentary it should work. It may work with a single pole double throw momentary (as long as there is only three wires that should work). Be sure it's contacts are rated high enough to handle the trigger on the solonoide. You should be able to read the rating off the corded hand controler switch and try to find a swtich that is rated the same or more.

I use a plain old toggle switch (on-off-on w/return to center) for my winch. Nothing fancy. A little time with a volt meter will tell you what goes where. And mine cost me about $2. (Already had the wire I used).

Wire the winch up before you install it.
If it is a Ramsey you will have 3 wires:
White
Green
Red
Completely remove the red wire, it will no longer be needed.
Take your extension (black #16-3) cord fish it through the sasme hole the OE wiring runs through and into the solenoid box . Connect the each of the three wires to the contacts on the Ramsey switch plug, you want to splice into the Green (IN) and White (OUT) wires. Connect the third lead to where the Red lead used to go on the connector.
(Don't trust me too much on the White vs. Green direction thing, try it out before you finish the install.)
Run the extension cord lead about 2 feet outside the winch and install a trailer brake light wiring connector so you can qucik disco the thing if the winch ever needs to be removed.
Run the extension cord to the dash where you want the switches located and connect the Green lead to the IN position, White lead to the OUT position. These two connections should both be the outer pins on the momentary toggle.
Okay now for the master switch, run a lead from the battery or in my case an Ignition HOT source to the master toggle, then a jumper lead from the other pin of the master toggle to the center pin of the momentary switch.
With my setup the key must be ON and the master switch ON for the winch to operate either through the dash or the remote lead ( had an issue with a spotter that started this whole project.) This way you can master OFF and make the remote useless in the event of a communications issue with a spotter.
