ok so my hypertherm has been acting a fool here lately. today, i was cutting out some suspension link tabs and i got about 3 cut out then went to cut out the fourth and it didn't do anything. i hit the trigger and nothing. looked at the machine and the light that indicates that the nozzle assembly is not threaded all the way in is on. wth?? i was just cutting with it and now its on?? so i take the nozzle apart and put it all back together and still nothing. so i turn the machine off then back on. now the light isnt on, so i cut about 2 inches then it cuts off. i turn the machine off then on and the light is still on this time. so i turn it off and wiggle the connection through the little side door and turn the machine back on. now it is working properly. so i get the last tab cut out then tried to cut something else out but the damn light had came back on. What in the shit is going on here. by the way the machine is a powermax 1000 .

There should be a microswitch in your torch head that tells the machine that the ring is threaded on all of the way. They can get pitted and f-ed up from slag, and may not work correctly. Another thing I have found with mine, is that when the red fault light comes on on the front panel, it is typically because the electrode and tip become misaligned, or improperly seated w/ each other a firm tap on the torch and resetting the power normally cures that one.
