on a 10K trailer, is there a right and wrong to mount a winch?
my neighbor bought a HF 8K winch, and I wanted to install it into a reciever hitch so he could remove it as necessary. The frame of the trailer is opposing angle iron pieces, so my thought was to place some 2.5 .25 tube and weld it to the top of the frame, sticking back towards the ass of the trailer. Then use another piece on the vertical face to sort of wrap the frame. Would that be sufficient, or should I try and spread the load out some? He will need to winch a 3500 pound old school fire engine up onto th trailer, so its not a lot of weight, but i dont want to fawk up his trailer.
